With my old Alienware I pretty much just left it plugged in during use and when not in use and the laptop was off. Is that ok to do with my Sager? I notice theirs two led lights on the front of the laptop that stay lit even when it's off and plugged in.

I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.

im guessing you're concerned about the batteries? I heard its best if you take the battery out, charged at around 40% if you're gonna leave it plugged in for long periods of time. but the impact is marginal, and makes you vulnerable to power outages and accidental unplugging. I just leave mine inside.

You would probably just notice a slightly higher electricity bill. I leave all my laptops plugged in all the time (when not on the go), and they are all fine.

You should be fine, there's no issue with leaving it plugged in all the time. It's still good practice to discharge the battery fully once a month though to keep it from dying prematurely.

I was talking about completely discharging it. you can leave it plugged, just use a surge protector, get the one with the feature which switches off the circuit if you switch off the laptop! :)

It's too bad the 8150 has a good battery. Fully discharging the previous generation never took long :D

    xrawxtalentx,

One last thought. Does the battery on the 8150 have a foot peg as well? Having a well ventilated space underneath may bee important to the cooling systems on your laptop.

On the x7200, the battery module also contains one foot peg for the bottom of the laptop. Since I don't have a blank slug (don't know if they even make one, but don't care as I'm not buying one), I just leave the battery in place and hooked to power 24 x 7. I've been doing this for well over a year - using a HWInfo, it reports battery wear level is under 10%.
