Is it possible to connect 3 external 1080p monitors to a P150EM?

...or even two external monitors, while also using the internal LCD?

It seems like it should be possible, since it has the power to do so (with a 7970M) and 3 video outs (HDMI+DVI+displayport). I've tried connecting three, but there are no options in the AMD or Intel graphics settings for it. I can connect two external monitors by disabling the internal LCD, but connecting a third monitor causes one or both of the other monitors to start flashing/glitching/disconnect.

Also, this isn't for gaming, just productivity.

because the dGPU is routed through the IGP, there's a two display maximum (inclusive of the "internal" panel) with the EM series. see these threads here, here, and here.

The current gen will do this as Haswell CPUs are equipped to handle 3 displays. Ivy Bridge CPUs will not drive 3 displays, however. And as mattcheau pointed out, all displays are routed strictly to the Intel chip.

You can get a USB adapter that will allow you to hook up additional monitors.

Or you can use intel wireless display for the third display.

well that's good that you finally looked it up. hadn't heard of that yet. a compatible wireless card and receiver entail a bit more than just an adapter though.

i never said anything about you being wrong, i just don't see that you ever suggested wi-di either. no need to pretend like you didn't learn about it more recently than those posts or that you've been giving that advice all along.

I've known about it for a long time lol.

I'm not searching even further back at this point since it takes a lot of searching to go through my post history.

    ;)

Widi has its costs and limits so i am not going to just blanket recommend it. If you have comments on my posting and feel I could add extra pieces of information then feel free to ask when I post or send me a PM. I am happy to take feedback on board :)
