I was wondering if it is possible to purchase only the Shell of the laptop so that i may customize it on my own. It seems that everywhere I see this machine, it is only built to order, and I was considering having a local shop do it, after I modify the case of the notebook personally 8 ).

The reason you don't see the barebones Sager NP9880 offered is because it is difficult to warrant it that way.

If you were able to buy the shell, you would have to look to your local shop to guarantee its build, and you may find that they would not give you the guarantee that you would get from Sager.

What kind of mods do you want to do?

The reason I am asking is because it would be cool to get my own custom paint job on one of these things. However Voodoo and Falcon are essentially charging an additional 1200 for the paint job.

I actually priced out identical systems, with identical components, and they all use the same D900 shell, and it definitely looks like they pad about 1200+ for the automotive finish.

    Any ideas?

The issue is still the warranty. Even if you could buy a barebones NP9880, as soon as you paint it you void the Sager warranty.

If you want to buy one totally without warranty, just let me know, but I do not recommend this.

Then email me stating who you are and where you are located...and why you want to buy the shells.

Oh, and please stop shouting. All caps is very impolite and considered shouting in emails or forum posts.

Talk to otaku as well. His notebooks are all custom painted and the warranty is second to none.

    He runs Infinity Notebooks.

If you want to build your own Clevo-based notebook while still having the warranty through Clevo themselves...

Please refer to my previous Post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=51171

I built my Clevo D900k (Sager 9750), and its as solid as anything that Sager or Alienware can put together.

    Hope this helps,
    Gophn
