I was hoping I could get some help with my P750DM.

So my Original screen stopped working which is the Chimei N156HGE-LA1, which has LVDS interface. Looking at the eurocom screen upgrade page located here

    https://eurocom.com/ec/lcd()upgrade

I was under the impression that I could upgrade to the Sharp LQ156D1JW04 4k screen, so I purchased one with correct wire needed to upgrade as well. Now I knew this was an eDP interface but I thought that my board had both LVDS and eDP. Upon opening the computer and inspecting the board it does look like it has both but the connector for the eDP interface is not soldered to the board. I have a picture if that would help just let me know.

My question is what are my options from here? Can I solder a connector to the eDP part of the motherboard? Move the connector from LVDS to eDP? Is there any other way to get an eDP screen working with the LVDS version of the P750DM? I'd really like to find a way to use the Sharp screen if possible.
If I purchased a new board with the connector soldered properly could I swap over all parts? Should I just get a new LVDS screen? If so are there any better options than the Chimei?

I'd appreciate any help you'd have to offer. Thanks in advance.

I also posted this in the owners forum. Sorry if one is not the right place.

There are likely some missing passives, I don't think you can upgrade it safely.

Thanks for the response. What do you think my best course of action is? Just getting a new LVDS screen? or if I wanted to pay extra getting a new board with eDP connector?

Are you sure its the P750DM? I know this problem (LVDS vs. eDP Versions) from my P750ZM. I thought there would only be eDP versions used for the versions following the ZM.

There have been some extensive discussions about that in the ZM-thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/nvme-bios-support-for-clevo-p750zm.819000/

For the ZM the FullHD screens where mostly LVDS, while the WQHD and 4K versions where eDP only. So no 4K with LVDS.
Switching MB was said to be a possible solution. But not cheap, although this might be cheaper now if you get on from ebay or whatever.
Soldering hasnt been tried yet, iirc. I'm not sure about the several (sketchy) adapters out there. They need additional space and power delivery.

LVDS would struggle with bandwidth to do 4k so makes sense.

You could quite possibly be right. It is rebranded as an Origin EON15-X, which is the model number for both the P750DM and P750ZM when bought from Origin.

Looking at your previous forum posts it appears that you upgraded or were thinking about upgrading your LVDS screen on the P750DM. Did you ever do it and which screen did you go with? I am like you and am coming from the Chimei and would like to get something sharper and perhaps IPS. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for your response. Moves me one step further down the path.

No, i dropped that idea, since my ZM got LVDS only. I bought a good external 32" Monitor.

Sorry, i quoted the wrong thread, meant this one:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...owner´s-lounge-welcome-to-the-batcave.767105/

Have a look at the info about display there. And also look into the "mod section". There is some extensive information about your options.

    Btw:
This guy seems to be eager to show the change of a screen online.

The classic was always the B156HW01 either v4 or v7 depending on glossy or matte. They overclock pretty well too.
