So, I guess it's a sign of the times and the UBER fast moving computer industry, but about 2 weeks after purchasing my NP9260 sager releases the NP9261 (1 digit? COMMON!) sporting a new mobo and cheaper set ups than the 9260.

the mobo now supports (or is made to handle) QUAD processors.

Now, this Christmas I have 700$ to blow on upgrades for my notebook, and I've already talked to the the power notebooks tech who recommended I wait until the 8800m comes out, and he then told me the he was unsure if I would be able to even put on in my system because of the unknown power usage.
When I talked to him about upgrading my processor, he said I could get a higher clocked DUO, but since my mobo is "out dated" I cannot get a QUAD processor and not break my warranty.

I e-mailed them back asking this question but, I'm making a post here as well.

    (TL;DR)
can I, for a reasonable price, upgrade my mobo?

just an edit Mobo is mother board.

You should be able to send it back to the reseller and they can upgrade it, if you have 700$ to blow I'd think that would cover it our be very close. As for the tech saying he's not sure a 8800m would work, thats just him playing it safe. I mean if one of the biggest laptops can't handle the card, almost no one will. I would wait a little longer though for the 8800m because at the very least their might be another MB update and require a larger power adapter.

Thanks, But, in 700$ I need to fit a QUAD process or and 1 or 2 GPUs.

    estimates.
250 per card lets just say one for this
    300 for the proc.
and then I have 150$ to spend on the mobo upgrade.

does anyone know how much the mobo upgrade will cost?

contact your vendor to find out.

if its still under warranty, it will be less costly.

cool thanks, yeah I'm going to have to wait until Monday for my reply. I hope it won't take them long to do it, I'm saving up all these new console games to play while my notebook is in for repair and upgrades.

I haven't gone one day where I haven't used this thing since I got it
    it's going to be tough.

    >.> kind of left that info out on the first post. If you need all of those then simple answer is NO. MB alone will probably be 300$-400$

i too bought wen you bought lol.. sux rite?
if you read my sig, im waiting till the SUMMER to change it out.. cuz then we'll def have info on penryns and the 8800s.. plus lets say if by then we're talking 9000 cards. Ull be ready for next years winter games. Who knows wat the crysis/bioshock of 08 will be!....

besides.. rite now if u have a D900... it has to at least have a single 7950.. which runs bioshock maxed out! for me anyway... just wait it out a LIL bit.. that 700 will go a longer way, considering the way technology moves.
