If the currently released specs are accurate, then yes, as it is essentially a die shrunk 9800M GTX with higher clocks.

well I am not sure if you guys know of this or not but it seems that Asus is coming out with a notebook with the GTX260M ...

It should be quite cheap as well since the 280M has a low price ...

This setup should beat them setups with them 9800 GTX ...

Asus brings the G71Gx gaming notebook to the CeBit 2009. As an upgrade to the G71, the G71Gx is equipped with world’s fastest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M notebook graphics processor with 1GB of DDR3 video RAM.

Asus G71Gx is based on Intel’s Centrino 2 platform supporting up to 12GB of DDR2 memory and up to 1TB of SATA hard drive storage. You can also expect Blu-ray drive, a 17-inch WUXGA HD display, and four dedicated Altec Lansing speakers. G71Gx also supports the NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology to bring sharper and smoother video transitions while utilizing very little power.

It's technically not the wrong forum, as the M860TU will also have the card.

    To your question:

The GTX 260M if overclockable to 650/1625/1100, will be just under the performance of the desktop 9800 GTX. If you were referring to the 9800M GTX, then yes, the 260M is clearly superior.
