So, long story short.
I played couple of hours of FIFA 13 and then fired up Civ 5 and at the save loading screen went blank. I turned the laptop off by holding power button, turned it back on and now it has those 0000s at start up and blue artifacts noticeable on the dark background. It won't boot into windows except when I choose to load a standard VGA driver (screen blanks, laptop beep and restarts). Uninstalling nvidia drivers makes it to boot fine.
Is there any chance of restoring my 680m to a normal condition?
At the very first screen of startup there are 000000 instead of blue artifacts.

Next screen - zeroes turn into blue strips all over the screen.

Notice black box around windows logo... What would that mean?

You can not see the blue artifacts on the white background - it behaves like an overlay it seems.

Idle is a little higher then before, but manageable.

Overheating maybe? Have you opened up the bottom to clean out any vents and fans, and what are you temps looking like. I think that as its slowly gotten better which could be after the GPU has cooled down a bit.

As Hutsady said, also I would be inclined to re-seat the card and re-apply thermal paste to the card. Give it a good clean while ur there. All the best!
-
I installed the card about 2 months ago. Idled at 40C. Regular cleaning is every 2 months, but it did reach 90C when I played Metro and Civ 5 with vsync off.
I repasted and reseated the sinks - nothing changed. -

It does sounds like it may be telling you goodbye. The 680M is pretty new, is your computer still under warranty?

Then yes it has developed a fault as far as I can tell.

Who did you buy the card from? See what warranty the card itself had? -
^ Bought it here at the NBR market. I'm gonna try to find out who the guy got it from.

As Bryanu mentioned we wouldn't cover that GPU since it was added by you. I dont believe Sager has them for sale anymore.
-
I just had them swap my 580m a few months ago even. Took 2 weeks to get here from over seas but they got it. -
P.S. No I didn't flash anything. It worked right out of the box until yesterday. -
If you have no warranty (as it seems you haven't) I would recommend giving the 'oven trick' a go - baking the card to reflow the solder. It's very easy to do, google up on it - it revived my 8800M GTX 8 months ago and it's still going
