Hi all,
According to Driver Detective (a program I paid for to detect when my drivers are out of date and then installs the latest ones), my 9800M GT card driver is as follows:
Description: NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT
Driver date: 19/06/2008
Version: 7.15.11.7602
A search using Nvidia's driver scan on its website says I have the following installed:
Product: NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT
Current Installed Driver: 176.02
Am I using the latest driver for my 9800M GT? Or is there a later version out at the moment? I was just wondering whether I should be using tweaked drivers like Dox's drivers, or carry on using "official" stock drivers like I have been doing. If I should just carry on using stock drivers, is Driver Detective doing its job right by telling me that I am fully up to date with the latest stock driver?

yes they are out of date. Go to laptopvide2go.com, download 180.70 for your os, then the modified .inf, replace that with the one u downloaded. Uninstall your driver, use driver sweeper to clean out the nVidia driver files leftover, reboot, install driver 180.70.reboot. your up to date.

There is also a 180.84 but these are still beta:

Or you can just download the one from www.laptopvideo2go.com -
the latest official drivers at the moment are 176.75

Where have you found that driver for notebooks, Mr. DJ? I can't find a latest driver for the 9800M GT on the Nvidia site... only for the desktop version of the 9800 GT. I didn't think you could install the drivers for desktops on notebooks as they are different cards..??
-
No you can't unless you modify the inf file. It is Nvidia's policy that the forceware drivers for graphic cards used in notebooks that you get them from the vendor directly. Just download the one from www.laptopvideo2go.com, they work like a charm.

dont forget that if you do use beta drivers and they bugger up your system you may not be covered by your warranty. -
180.84 are the latest ones, suposedly improving all around performance, especially GTA IV.
Suposedly... -

MrDJ is correct (I can't post a link to our download page but they are there to download), Driver Detective is telling you that there are newer official drivers available - 176.75.

Not supported by some companies? AFAIK if they provide software support it will be for the drives that you can download from the resellers site only but then again AFAIK nobody will support software issues.
Is my current 9800M GT driver the most current driver?
