You're talking about the 3DMark11 score? The AW results clearly show that Enduro doesn't effect the synthetic 3DMark11 scores so that's a bit of a moot point.
However I do agree that no one has fully tested a Clevo 7970M yet so nothing is set in stone.
-
For sure AMD will release drivers soon, so "wait and see".
-
If only 1 of all those customers who have receive their laptops can post some FPS values for specific games where the Alienware seems to be struggling with the Enduro we can for once clearly figure out if the Enduro truly is problematic in the Sager/Clevo laptops.
Preferably games like
Dirt Showdown 2012 - 37.4 compared to 49 (11.6 fps)
COD Modern warfare 3 - 70.2 compared to 91 (20.8 fps)
Batman: Arkham City - 49 compared to 57 (8 fps)
F1 2011 - 35 compared to 65 (30 fps)
Dirt 3 2011 - 47 compared to 64 (17 fps)
COD Black ops - 92 compared to 106 (14 fps) -
F1 2011 in 1080p Ultra would be a good test...
-
more like BF3 in ultra to see if it stays a steady 35 fps as it says the 7970M will achieve on notebookcheck.
-
I played BF3 in Ultra settings and never got lower than 40FPS. It's the first time im playing BF3 though, maybe I forgot some setting?
-
Post a screen shot of the settings you are playing with. That would give us a perfect idea. Also try out the games that I have mentioned in my previous post if possible.
-
Battlefield3 Settings: http://i.imgur.com/fMXrN.jpg
I don't have other games yet, this one took quite some time to download. Next I'll download MW3 and Black Ops. -
Instead of keeping the graphics settings as Custom, try setting it as Ultra in the graphics quality options and try running the game. And do let us know the avg FPS you see.
-
Tried that, FPS are a bit lower, around 35~50, average at about 40~45 but I can't tell any difference.
-
Try high, med and low settings also and post the results please. This way we can compare the fps results to that posted in page 3 and check if the Clevo/Sager laptops also suffer from the fps drain due to the Enduro like the Alienware.
-
We need to do actual benchmarks, like the one that comes with Crysis and Street Fighter IV. Doing manual runs won't be as consistent.
-
True but we are just trying to find if there is a considerable difference between the Alienware posted fps and the ones noticed in Sager/Clevo. For eg in BF3, the posts show a huge diff in med - low settings. Though this test could not be very accurate at least it can give us a rough idea as to what kind of performance can be expected out of the Sager/Clevo's in comparison to the Alienware with Enduro OFF and ON.
-
Ok, well if anyone with a Clevo wants to post their BF3 runs and the relevant details, I will try to replicate it.
-
Low: 69~133 (average: 87 in 60 seconds)
Medium: 55~122 (average: 79 in 60 seconds)
High: 55~91 (average: 64 in 60 seconds)
Ultra: 34~76 (average 44 in 60 seconds)
BATTLEFIELD 3 -
Well that is exactly what we are trying. A lot of people have received their Clevo/Sager laptops but still we have not been able to conclude is they are as well affected by Enduro as the Alienware's are. At least the Alienware's have an option to turn it off. If it turns out the Sager/Clevo have the same issues a lot more of the waiting crowd in my opinion would be looking towards the Alienware or potentially straight towards the 680m.
-
BF3 Notebookcheck values :
Low: 120.3 fps
Med.: 90.7 fps
High: 71.8 fps
Ultra: 34.7 fps
This was the config used by Notebookcheck.net for the above fps values.
M17x R4
Intel Core i7 3610QM 2.3GHz
Radeon HD 7970M (850MHz), 2048MB (1200MHz) GDDR5, 8.934.2.0
8192MB RAM
What version drivers are you currently using? I am sure you must have received some driver software from whoever it is that you bought? Who was it again? -
Could you possibly run BF3 at Low, Med, High and Ultra and post fps values? I am assuming the Clevo fps values match the values posted with Enduro ON earlier in the thread. The only thing to check is the drivers he is running on. If they too match then there is a good chance that the Clevo is also affected.
-
I edited my post with "benchmarks" from Fraps.
I bought it from WSI in Portugal, it came with a "Device Drivers & Utilities + User's Manual" CD but I replaced the dvd drive with an SSD so I can't really see what's in here until I buy an external one. -
Did you buy the laptop with the OS and get it pre installed? If that's the case the reseller might have installed the drivers as well. You can still go to device manager and check out the current version of your graphics driver. It would be great if you could let us know the version you are currently running.
-
8.951.6.0 from 29-03-2012. I bought it with OS yes, it already came with Catalyst Control Center, Bigfoot Network manager, THX Studio Pro, and a couple other things.
-
The version you mention is different to the one used by Notebookcheck. I suppose that is bcoz the Notebookcheck site used the Dell laptop with the Dell card which supposedly has a different driver. I guess we will have to confirm the driver version from other members who have got their laptops too.
-
I'm not sure I can rely on the info that the device manager is showing, the same number and date appears on the intel hd 4000.
-
Ok, but how do I go about getting the numbers? I mean like, what level do I run? When should I start and stop the fraps benchmark?
-
Okay at this point, I have orders placed both on Alienware and Sager. Depending on the fps results of the Clevo machines, I will just cancel one. I really wish Clevo is free from all these Enduro mess.
-
Ok the dell 7970 driver is: 03/07/2012, 8.934.2.0000 I don't know what variation
The Clevo 7970 driver is: 03/29/2012, 8.951.6.0000 (This is a 12.3 variation)
Just for reference
-
Interesting. This maybe helps explain why my laptop's FPS rates matches up more with Dell's with Enduro disabled, despite Enduro being enabled for me. And also why my GPU benchmarks seem to beat the Alienware ones squarely every time, albeit not by an enormous margin. Cool!
-
@harrypoteru Could you specify what level did you use to get those fraps benchmarks? We can confirm the same from GTRagnarok by having Enduro ON and OFF.
-
It would be great if you could also post some fraps scores form one of the game I have mentioned previously in my post. It would help clear out the confusion behind the Enduro issues in Clevo.
-
Oh man. I have ordered a computer with Clevo Barebones, and I become worried when I hear this. I hope that Clevo laptops are not hit by the Enduro-slowdowns, - if they are, I hope they can fix it by releasing a new driver. If not, I guess I will have to cancel my order and wait for the 680M. I got a message from my retailer, and they said that it will take up to 3 weeks before they have sorted it out.
-
Sorted what out?The Enduro fps limiting issue?
-
@Curs3, By level you mean part of game? Campaign when I'm playing Dima when I'm trying to get to Kaffarov, after I jumped out of the plane. I downloaded COD MW3, want me to test that?
-
Sadly, no. They just said that they experienced a "black screen issue", and it would take some time before Clevo finds a solution to the problem.
My previous description was a bit inexact, I'm sorry
-
I tested COD: MW3 in max settings and got steady 91FPS. I'm testing the low-med-high now.
-
91 FPS is where it should be according to notebookcheck.net
!
-
Lets wait driver update
-
I got ~91 steady with these: http://i.imgur.com/CyYyB.jpg
-
Actually GTRagnarok said he would confirm the fps from his Alienware thereby letting us decide if the Clevo's also suffer. It was he who asked.Hopefully he will see your post and post fps values soon.
-
can anyone dump clevo hd 7970m vbios ?
thanks -
I'll try to dump vBios since I receive my laptop tomorrow
Is possible to disable enduro 7970m in clevo p150em/170em?
