I would say, like any brand of merchandise, it's hit or miss, and likely a lot to do with the model and when it was released.

    For example:

The 8250's when they were first released, had a large number of issues with technology. Things didn't work well together, drivers were wonky, fan speeds were HORRIBLE and so forth.

Then the next model 8255 fixed a lot of those issues, but still had issues like the fans and what have you.

Then the 8258 came out and it's been absolutely rock solid.

What I would do, is don't worry so much about blanket statements like 'Are Sager Good' or 'Is Alienware Good' or 'Is Asus Good' and so forth. Look around, find the exact models you want from the various distributors then pinpoint what the reviews of those exact models are. Query people who have purchased them, find out how long they have had them, what type of use they get out of them, and gather your own details.

You can't fully trust reviews online without a grain of salt anyway. Large corporations pay shills to give high marks for them, or low marks for competitors to sway public opinion.

Does this mean you should just throw out all those reviews? Of course not.

It does mean, however, that you should gather all the details yourself, and find the hardware that best fits your needs. If that's a Sager, that's great. If it's an Alienware, that's great too. Asus? Fine again. It boils down, again, to what fits your needs, not anyone elses.

For myself, I can't give any reliability of other Sager models, but the 8258-S that I have, and that my wife has, has been without fault for the past 6 months I"ve had it.

The GPU runs a bit hot on demanding games (82-86c) but it's an 880M and it's a hot little sucker.

So in closing, I'd suggest gather all the facts, weigh in pros and cons, and go from there.

    And good luck!

The SLI laptops as well as the flagship P570WM (NP9570) seem to be better built. But as Ashen-Shugar mentioned, each model has its own unique quirks and issues. If you could specify the model(s) you're interested in we might be able to give you a better rundown.

While Sager may get bad reviews on RR its typically about the customer service and not actually their computers. Check out many of their resellers which have reps here, and check out their Resellerratings pages as well. When you go through a reseller you'll get their customer service and they will go to bat for you if there are any issues.

like any review site for customers and it doesnt matter what part of the world you are from you will always always see the bad reports but hardly any good reports as happy customers dont normally visit forums and review pages as they are enjoying their laptops for the reason they bought them, to game or use for work.
as soon as something goes wrong they then join the forum to vent and get advice.

as mentioned above, i would not buy direct from sager. go with any of these suppliers who also have reps on here that visit and give advice on a daily basis. xoticpc, prostar, power notebooks, mythlogic, lpc digital.

That's Sager direct. You're better going with a Sager reseller or other builder.

    Check out the Sager resellers:

    PowerNotebooks.com Reviews - powernotebooks.com Ratings at ResellerRatings 10/10

Yes hundreds of them. Some do need to have something fixed as with any computer brand but there is no common issue that comes to mind.

*grin* He's probably asking if the Sager's go in for warrenty/repair any more or less than the other name brands. Alienware, MSI, Asus, etc.

My guess you see a fairly even keel across board.

Indeed pretty even across the board. Considering the majority of the parts inside a computer can be the same regardless of computer brand, like CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD etc we can end up with identical parts in different brands. That results in pretty even failure rates.
