My audio output jack on the front of my laptop is broken and only one channel works. It's still on warranty but unfortunately I'd have to ship it to Ottawa and wait for the return, which as a busy University student who can't do without his laptop, isn't an option at the moment.
So I plan to try and buy an external card and I might as well get the best one available to improve sound quality and perhaps even gaming FPS while I'm at it.
Before I go and bite the bullet and purchase this, I just want to confirm that it will fit in my card slot.
- Thanks!

What slot do you have PC Card or ExpressCard? And the X-Fi Xtreme is more likely to reduce FPS because it uses software processing and doesn't have a dedicated chip (DSP) to handle processing.

ExpressCard Slot - Accepts either ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 formats.
I ordered it with the default sound configuration from Eurocom.
And I believe the review of the card I'm looking to purchase here on notebookreviews says that it did indeed increase gaming performance. -
Hmm I'm not so sure about that but yes it will be compatible with your machine.

Is the "SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook" compatible with my 5790?
