Hi I'm trying to get one of these cards to put in an acer AS7720 laptop that came with an MXM II 8400gs. I'm trying to figure out if it can be done. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks guys

Welcome to the NBR fourms. :)

Please search the forums before posting.

    The short answer:
MXM-II is the most common videocard module for mid-range gaming systems since it uses low power (25w TDP)... which tops out at:
    - 8600M GT
    - 9600M GT

The high-end videocards (8800M, 9800M, etc..) all require MXM-III/IV which would be needed to power such powerful components.

And go to www.mxm-upgrade.com to find out about MXM.

We have gone over this subject too many times.

For instance, we went over some of it here:

sorry guys. I will check out the info you provided. The reason I ask is because the person selling it specifically stated it was MXM II and the connectors on the bottom look the same, but the card is a bit bigger (of ocurse) than the 8600m. Assuming it is an MXM II how do I go about flashign the BIOS etc.? I will make sure to check out the links you provided but any poitned information would help.

    Thanks again

It [8800M or any other high-end card] WILL NOT work on a MXM-II slot.

    PERIOD.
