Hi,really really want to buy a 9262 with 9800gtx sli,but in the UK it comes out at about £2600,compared to a M17 xfire at about £1600.I dont mind paying the extra because ive wanted a 9262 for a long time and want the best laptop i can get,but i don't want to just waste money if there's not much gain.i want this 100% for gaming and the size wieght is not an issue, thanks for any replies
ps What i think im trying to say is i dont want to buy the M17 and then wish i'd just paid the extra for the sager, anyway i'l stop waffling on now ,thanks again Rigs.

which UK vendor do you plan on getting the D901C (Sager 9262) from?

the 9800M GTX SLI with Q9650 CPU would be better than the Arima W840 DI (AW M17)'s dual ATI 3870 with QX9300 CPU.

it might not be totally worth it for the cost difference.... getting SLI 9800M GT's (same as 8800M GTX) would be a better option that still outperforms dual ATI 3870's.

The Clevo D901C is still very solid with the best cooling.... the MXM Type IV still has a future with possible GTX 200 series cards for it. :)

If you do not care about size and want the fastest gaming notebook, also check out the new:
    - ASUS W90vp ... 18.4" with dual ATI 4870 .... just upgrade the CPU.

Hi,I would get the 9262 from Kobalt, can't get 9800 gt cards anywhere in the uk,Rock are doing the 9262 with 9800 gts sli ,saving about £600 but have been told this set up is not supported by Clevo ? .I don't think the asus is going to be available in the UK. I would go for the M17 but don't want to wish i had got the sager when the m17 starts strugling, thanks for your reply,Rigs

I bout a Kobalt Comanche SLI from Kobalt Computers - it's a Clevo D901C/9262 too. I went for a bit more expensive setup though (see sig), and I'm absolutely loving it. So far I've been able to play all games on full settings (exept for Crysis Warhead) all smoothly, and it's amazing for programming and graphics. I can only recommend getting the 9262; I've had no regrets!

Hehe, guess a little typo sneaked in when I was changing the Xeon x3370 to the Q9650. :D I was supposed to get the Xeon, but since Kobalt encountered problems with the processor while testing it and they had none left, they gave me a Core 2 instead. Basically the same anyway.

To be honest, why get SLI of 9800m GTS, when a single 9800m GTX could get very close to it? I'm sure the set up is supported (Toshiba Qosmio X305 Q706 ), as long as two GPU are same model, it ought to work in SLI; however, one does not see this set up alot, as the second GPU is generally not considered to generate enough return.

Not to mention, a single GPU have less troubles generally with drivers, with less multi GPU scaling problem, meaning in games where multicore support is poor, thus you may actually get higher score with a single 9800m GTX than 9800m GTS Sli; the former will also use less power, weigh slightly less, and leave you an option of getting an 9800m GTX later.

To be honest the UK Clevo rebrands aren't cheap, and I think rock probably got in stock too many to sell in these time. And certainly at their old prices, I'd be shocked to know if they are doing well.

Have you looked at Advent's 6555?

Its got mobile quad Q9000, Ati 4850 (better stock than a 9800m GTX most of the time) and blu-ray drive.
