Hi guys,
My Sager NP8150 / P150HM has a GTX 580m and is showing red screen and scrambled lines from boot. Previosly, I could even boot up and use windows, but now when entering windows I get a BSOD with nvlddmkm.sys error.

I tried repasting the GPU with no luck.
So:
- Is the GPU really dead or could a bad cable be the cause of these symptoms as well? If that's the case, could you point some instructions on how to disassemble the cable on the chassis side (I managed to reconnect on the LCD side).
- In case the GPU is dead, could I replace it with a GTX 470m from this link out of the box? I asked the vendor and he said it is compatible and I can reuse my current heatsink.
The laptop worked like a charm and, aside from gaming, it was still very powerfull for other stuff (like programing). I would be a pitty to throw it away.![]()
Thanks!!

A cable would not cause a BSOD. Card is likely dead.
If they are guaranteeing it then it's worth a shot to get the machine up and running but they are all getting quite old now. -
Well, I bought the 470m, but even though it boots I can't see anything.
It's all black and apparently Windows is booting up.
Any ideas? My PC had the latest BIOS version from Sager. Do I need to downgrade it?
Or does the 470m required a special vBios? In that case, how can I do it if nothing is shown? -

Ask the seller what they recommend and if that does not work return it.
Is the GPU on my P150HM dead?
