Giving the information we know now of the new computer platform (Montevina), would the M570RU still be a good value?
-
M570RU is still a great notebook.... if you can even find it anymore since its out of stock.
the pricing of the M570TU is the same, so there is no point in getting the older model. -
The M570RU is plenty powerful, even for intense gaming. Yes, the M570TU with Montevina platform adds DDR3, 9800GTX, mobile quad core possibilities, HDMI & eSATA ports, but by no means will the M570RU be obsolete any time soon.

Edit: I found the post that shows a system running faster than the new montevina system. O_O' why is the new system being beaten by the old model?
-
The Santa Rosa system was using XP, so that makes it a couple of hundred points higher. On top of that the processor in the Santa Rosa system was a 3.2, compared to a 3.0 in the Montevina system. That explains the differences.
But if you expect big performance boosts then you'll be disappointed. The main advantage is battery life and efficiency. -
U should notice tne MV system is 3.12G.

That system above is OCed, that`s why.

Thanks guys for the replies!
@Gophn
It’s true the M570RU is in the same price bracket as the newer models, mine was a closeout buy that put it at $1299. At that price, it was too good to pass up and I picked it over the HDX.
Another reason why I thought it was a good buy was from the comments on this thread of its performance and what I’ve read in other post.
@Nirvana
It seems you have the same setup as I will be receiving, so if you could just give me some tips on the best performance drivers (Windows Vista 64bit), it will be greatly appreciated!
I hope our little spout over the HDX vs. M2010 doesn’t leave any hard feelings, because I’ve learned a lot just reading your post.
My computer will be arriving within the next two weeks; it’s already in the possession of my grandmother (Boxed). Should I have her turn it on before she ships it, and would there be something she could mess up by doing so? I mean, I would like to be the first one to turn it on. It’s in the box, but I would be mad if it didn’t turn on when it’s finally in my possession. I heard that the Sager/Clevo notebooks do not come with bloat ware, would that mean I’ll have an OEM or retail version of Windows Vista? I guess I could have her take pics of the box contents, having her try and tell me something I need to know would be like finding a needle in a hay stack. -
holy crap where did you find that at 1299?? ill take 2 please.. lol.. and yes from my experiences so far with montevina and the 9800gt (freinds system) it really is not at all any faster than mine was. in all tests i have run on it (only was able to swipe it for a day) both systems show equal results even with the ddr3 and the 1066fsb. the montevina was just a bit faster in cpu intensive tasks but it really was nothing imo to be worried about and for the tiny bit of battery life advantage if you got your for that price there is no way for any reason you should even consider buying the new one

where did you get it from?

dit_xi I don't think the 570-Tu right now is going to support mobile quad cores. See this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=277669
Tankbuster The 3.2 Ghz in the 570Ru (Santa Rosa) was derived from an x900 (2.8 Ghz) overclocked to 3.2 with either BIOS or other methods (as the Extreme processors are unlocked). The Montivina uses an x9100 CPU (3.06) stock.
As far as DDR3, it doesn't appear it does anything performance-wise to help the notebook. It is about 3 times more expensive though.... That's a hard one to figure out.
My take? The 570-RU is a great system. I think you can get some good deals right now from inventory reductions or people that may be selling slightly used, or trade-in systems. The GPU is the exact same, the 9800 GT IS the 8800 GTX re-branded. The DDR3 does next to ( or) nothing but add cost. The 1066 fsb, HDMI, eSATA that IS nice. But those are the reasons you are going to give why you should pay so much less for that system when purchasing it. -
$1299
that's nearly half of what I paid
50% deflation in just 3 months?
That's a new record of my personal laptop purchase history.
btw 177.42 works pretty well. -
Uh Oh!
Sorry guys. The laptop was on sale for $1599 EUROS and with discounts and rewards bonuses, the final cost was 1299 EUROS. If I’m not mistaken, that’s still around 2000 bucks here. So no need to start throwing your laptop away Nirvana, it’s still worth something. -
Is the M570U still worth it?
