I just ordered the np8130 with the 95% gamut glossy screen and the gtx 560m. I then saw someone mention 3D and was curious if the np8130 is 3D ready for games and movies.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry. Not at this time. The 3D screen is only shipping on the 17' Sager NP8170 or Clevo P170HM (3) model.

Am I correct in thinking that the video card IS 3D capable so if you hooked up an external 3D compatible monitor you could have 3D?

If you use an external 3D, I see why not, as the gfx card supports 3D.

If you were looking to do Nvidia 3d Vision, then an external display will work fine for it. However, in case you didn't already know- it will cut your frame rates in half. The 560m may not do particularly well with 3D because of the performance drop. If you don't mind lowering the settings, then it shouldn't matter though.

For perspective, I run 3D on my desktop with dual 470's and it still requires turning down settings for some games.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world who hates 3D. At least, I hate 3D movies. Don't know how I feel about games.

Nah you definitely aren't the only one. I actually hate 3D badly. My wife and I finally saw a 3D movie (harry potter) and I had a headache between my eyes the entire time. I tried the Nintendo 3DS and had a similar experience. Mostly I was just asking about the laptop having 3D because I would never go out of my way to try 3D gaming but it seems like my new laptop will happen to have it so I could test it out at some point when convenient to know if its any difference of an experience to movies

    I don't really like 3D.

It's just not ready yet for the public, losses outweigh the gains IMO.

I guess I will chime in here. I DO like a well made 3D movie. I must admit that the animated type 3D is better than a regular production type...of course imo :)
