There both a clevo p150em, and i find when I tell people I got a Pollux 1612 they have no idea what I'm talking about. Even clevo p150em isn't as popular a the name sager.
-
Yes. Mythlogic gives fancy names to each of their models based on mythological creatures, but they're based on the same Clevo shells that you'd expect.
-
Myth does state that it is a P150EM, but it is essentially the same as a Sager 9150. It can be confusing as builders and resellers give them different names.
The proper model name is the Clevo one, but Sager have their own bios, so what you have isn't really a Sager. -
Granted they have a great staff and support and that is the only real difference. With Sager, you don't know who the technician is, but with Mythlogic, you do. And Mythlogic is very communicative and helpful. But when it comes to pulling weight and having influence on change, Sager is bigger. If Sager wants something done, AMD/Clevo are more likely to listen.
But it would be more appropriate to say Mythlogic is same as Eurocom. Pretty sure they source their notebooks from Eurocom. Only three Clevo importers, Sager, Eurocom and ProStar for N.A. And Sager and Prostar don't supply Clevo to Mythlogic, only leaves Eurocom.
But I don't discount the personal service Mythlogic offers, but the notebooks are the same. But I would recommend Mythlogic over Origin anytime. Mythlogic extra price for service seems legit, Origin is just a scam IMO. -
as a builder of clevo shells (with clevo being the original design manufacturer or ODM), your mythologic machine is built from a clevo p150em shell. in this way you can think of mythologic, like sager, as an original equipment manufactuter (or OEM) that takes a clevo shell and builds a mythologic product "around" it the same way sager builds their machines. therefore the answer to your question is yes, a mythologic p ollux 1612 and a sager np9150 are both built from the same shell, a clevo p150em.
companies like mythologic and malibal and eurocom and sager as system builders, are not to be confused with sager resellers like xoticpc, powernotebooks, lpc digital, etc. these resellers exist due to the sheer demand for sager machines (similar to the demand for alienware or msi machines sold by third-party resellers), whereas the system builders are selling their "own" product. the differences between any and all of these companies exist in their customer service, quality control, warranty terms, cost, and things of that nature.
so you just told the entire board that you bought a ~$1500+ laptop without adequately researching it, or reading the sticky labeled " ****READ BEFORE POSTING****" before posting. -
Why would you say that? I researched, I just am new to this thing and was wondering if i missed anything. Now I know I didn't. Oh, thanks for being a %$#& Mattcheau

You guys are being rather rash. While they do use the same shells as sager, they DO offer more on aspects such as ram and hard/ solid state drives. You do pay a premium, but in return you get stellar support, their own drivers, and meticulous stress testing. Not to mention th ePhoenix upgrade plan which is uncomparable. I dare you to try to find a bad review from them

Dont worry op you made an awesome decision. Ignore the troll which is surprisingly rare on this forum.

Many people get their systems from different places, but this is the place to truly make your system unique
If you tried to order system configured like mine then they would blink at you and scratch their head. -

Our BIOS's have a lot of work done to them, and yea it does enable more features if not highly used (yet).. Just for example our BIOS's:
- Enable RAID 0 / 1 on the P150/P151 (If you want to get CRAZY we can do a RAID5 on these too, but its kinda hard)
- Enable RAID5 on the P170/P370
- Update all the oROMS's, we are using RST 11.6 on our machines now. PXE is updated, on some the vBIOS is updated also
- Updated ME on all our BIOS's, ME 8.1 to be exact.
- All of ours have all the Virtualization options on
- All our BIOS's have DDR3-L enabled and used when using our stock 1600Mhz memory (1.28V to be exact)
- All our BIOS's have UEFI enabled and ready for Windows 8
So yea, we can actually add features and options even if we don't solder another port onto it (note thats not from lack of trying) lol. -

So do you have access to the bios and the switch settings or do you send a request list to those who do?
Because it's kind of annoying having to flash the bios from another system just to get round features artificially removed. -
Depends on the specific model, some models have the switches and some don't just depends on the layout of the BIOS. But for the most part all the extra changes that we don't really need switches
Our W-series BIOS's have a lot of switches etc while the P-series don't have as many. We've asked Clevo for a full open BIOS but as they don't actually do all that work (They sub-contract it) it gets a little difficult to do the changes, so we do all that BIOS work ourselves (We are a full AMI Aptio house)

It amuses me the premium P series is the one locked down and not the value models :/
Is the Pollux 1612 I ordered from Mythlogic really just a sager np9150
