im curios because sometimes my laptop gets the BSOD on oblivion or just restarts in games like Supreme Commander. I checked the temps and the core temp is 40 C. Is the power supply in this beast enough to support a laptop during intense gaming?

    What is the GPU temp?

You may need a cooling mat. Do you overclock?

See the cooling guide for info/reviews.

Hrm, that is wierd..what resolution are you running it at? (During Oblivion Games?) I had one BSOD in Win XP during a 2142 fight, I was running it at 1600x1200 (full Settings enabled) and it BSOD on me...now I'm running it at 1400x980 (or something close to that) with full settings and no BSOD's.

noting the bsod STOP error number would be helpful in troubleshooting

While BSODs can result from a bad power supply (rare), they are more often associated with bad ram or bad drivers

what is native resolution? that sucks if its bad hardware though! i can leave the laptop on all night and i wont get a BSOD so i dont know if that can be it. maybe its bad drivers...do i just redownload and over-write the drivers from sagernotebook.com? Its a nvidia go gtx 7950

Native Resolution is what your LCD's resolution.

    WXGA+ = 1440x900
    WSXGA+ = 1680x1050
    WUXGA = 1920x1200
    ___________________

I would recommend to try other drivers, from Sagernotebooks or Clevo themselves.... it does not sound like a hardware issue

you can do a memory test to cross that off the list, its easy:
    - just download MemTest86+ ( mirror)
    - burn the ISO image into a blank CD, and let it auto-boot (the rest is automated)... it just test all of your memory, if it goes through 1 full pass w/o any errors listed, then you are good.
    - you can also get the floppy version as well.

    pretty much :)

if it does not auto boot, then you should:
    - make sure to set the first device to boot is the CD/DVD drive (in the BIOS)
    - make sure that you actually burned the ISO CD image correctly

stock nvidia or ATI drivers won't work. Go to laptopvideo2go for nVidia drivers or Omega drivers for ATI.

im going to try those laptop2go drivers soon. im just waiting to see if overwriting the previous videocard from sager will do the trick. so if problems continue i will definatly go there next Gophn. Will the powermizer settings still be there with those drivers? also im not sure if this has anything to do withthe problems but can it be possible that norton 360 can cause problems while gaming? Im going to disable auto-protect and see if problems still exist,

i thought disabling the antivirus would fix the problem but it didnt. Oblivion still crashed and had to push power to restart. Im thinking this is a video driver issue. Should i wait until sagernotebooks.com releases a new version of the video drivers or just go with the link you sent me, Gophn.

about a hour and 5 minutes into Oblivion gameplay i recieved a BSOD. I was able to write down what i saw and on the top it said Bugcode_USB_driver. What does this mean? Is there a way to stop the BSOD by fixing this so called USB driver?

hmmm... try disabling the card reader and the camera (in the Device Manager)

then see if that helps... since those are the only USB devices that I can think of thats integrated into the notebook.

since the error message points to the USB driver, I think you need
to disconnect the attached USB devices. Run the game without those USB
devices attached to see if the same error message still shows up.

That was Sagers answer to the BSOD but its kind of hard to play a game without a USB mouse. Im going to hurl lol.i thought i could just re-install the USB drivers and that would fixx it like new. Any advice?

i cant find the card reader or camera in device manager. I know it must be there but i cant recognize the name. The only thing i do see is something called Bluetooth USB. Should i disable that? isnt there like a driver update or some hotfix that addresses this issue?I find it wrong that i would have to disable devices to stop a issue if that would indeed solve the problem.

i googled a bit on this issue and found this hotfix
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331988
would that hotfix solve the problem i am experiencing on my D900C?

They are still too buggy for release. Sager, Clevo and nVIDIA are still working on it and will release them as soon as they are stable.

i tested how well my laptop would run with oblivion. Well about 50+ minutes into the game i get a blue screen and it shutdowsn really quick but only saw Driver_irql. I tried aoblivion again for another hour and it gave me another blue screen adnt his time i was able to read it. It said Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. What does this mean? I uninstalled my xbox360 controller software as well as the intelipoint mouse software to see if it would stop the errors. Apparently this has not helped at all. What should I do? The BSOD also said that the thing involved was something called Symtdi.sys.

    >_< thats horrible! I wish there was a wayto go around this. I mean i already did disable norton 360 but i still get random crashes and stutters that rresult in me turning off in oblivion. So far oblivion is the only game that does this to me. I wish there was a way to solve this issue. Maybe ill have to wait for a patch oir something.

Norton Anti-Viruses ahave always been notoriously bad for many reasons:
    - causing incompatibilities with other programs/games
    - creating a proprietary security suite
    - notoriously one of the worse programs to remove from the computer
    - system resource hogger

I would really recommend to use other alternative (most of which are 100% free):
    Firewall: Zone Alarm or Kerio
    Antivirus: Avast!4 or AVG

I do not get why people still purchase Norton or McAffee crapware since the free alternative do a better job without screwing up the system and the resources... and there's no Subscription BS with the freeware (which give free updates forever).

So i played Oblivion again for at leasest 2 hours and it seems to only give me errors when im outside the realms of oblivion. When im in the wasstelands of oblivion it lets me play forever and no problems no freezes etc. But once i get the stone and close the gate of oblivion and go outside a few minutes later for no apparent reason it would give me a BSOD which was DRIVERr_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. When i restart the pc and replay oblivion it starts like nothing and i can get a hour or so of gamplay outside oblivion and very stable in the realm of oblivion. Im guessing this is a coding issue within the ggame. How utterly annoying. This is the second time i re-insstall the game too! Ugh any advice?!??! This is driving me NUTS!

Go to their files section and download the "NGO NVidia Optimized Driver". I think "NGO NVIDIA Optimized Driver 1.15822b" is the one you probably want. I don't have an NVidia card in my current notebook, so I'm not sure.

Edit: Are you running XP or Vista x86/x64?

You shouldn't have to, but if you want to be absolutely sure that you're using the new driver, it might be a good idea. One other thing: I recommend saying no to any requests from the driver installer to reboot your computer. Some driver installations actually run multiple installers. You should reboot manually after it is all over.

    I have a 7800GTX and run Oblivion on High/Max settings... 30+ FPS.

So I think that something is causing some instabilities within your system... probably resource hoggers, or software config.

I'm running a Clevo D900C with 7950GTX SLi. Had some issues with BSOD in Oblivion. Gophn posted the [fn]+1 key strokes to full fan speed. I know that its in the manual, but the wording wasn't clear. The Laptop uses auto as default and builds some heat. Using the full fan mode makes a huge difference, and it isn't all that loud.

I run Oblivion at 1400x1050, with about 100 mods active, and have the video features set at 2/3 in general. In full disclosure, I am slightly overclocked on the video card. I am getting 30 fps outdoor, with maybe 2 fps at start of conflict, and 60 indoors. Cities start at mid 20's and quickly rush to 30 to 40 fps. I haven't had a crash in Oblivion in over a week.

I had experimented with the 1600 resolution, but it crashed with an Oblivion error message exiting to Windows and generally corrupted the running game file. It wasn't worth the reboots.

When I first bought the Laptop,I used Panda software for Internet firewall. But every time I did a driver change, the Panda software chocked Windows boot up. Dropped Panda and added the Windows Firewall + AVG. No problems since.

Use msconfig and the startup menu to drop the camera and dvd pre-load files. Use a program like Registry Booster to fix registry issues.

If you get issue that prevent - lock up - Windows at boot up, don't panic. Boot laptop and at the end of the initial splash screen push F5. Go into Windows safemode. Run MSCONFIG. Select Services. Mark "Hide all Microsoft Services". Select Disable All. Select OK and the reboot button. Windows XP should now restart. Enable the additional services slowly until you find the one causing the lock ups. In my case it was the Panda Software, and it maybe it seem like I have video drivers or heat issues.

im willing to bet that its that damm norton 360!!! Im thinking that maybe the realms of oblivion are less resource dependent than when im outside of oblivion walking around etc. Since walking outside oblivion is huuuuge then maybe resources are getting scarce as norton 360 is also on...but then again i have auto-protect and almost all of 360 features disabled.
