That could be it. Also, more graphics memory would be required at higher resolutions and AA settings. You might want to run the calculation to see how much gfx RAM you needed. You might have pushed the boundaries a bit far.

i didnt think that would be a issue with the d900c i thought this beast can handle that game with max everything but yea i guess higher view distance means more resources. So i cranked down moat of the distance settings a little bit more down they they should. Still looks insane though! Especially when you go to the realms of hell..er i mean Oblivion! ATM i have AA to 2x which is good enough in my opinion!

Loaded the latest NGO video driver.
Now I can run Oblivion at 1600x1200 with 30+ easy outdoors. Causing some clipping of sound at game saving. Maybe the sound driver should be reinstalled after the video driver. I have grass and that stuff set about 70% and distance at 85% [estimates]. AA turned off [at the 1600 I don't think you need this overhead], blooming on and HDR off. The game screams and runs flawless except for some crackle each time I save. There is a slight horizontal distortion of ground texture close to the bottom of the screen as I run. I think that the LCD might have some problem at this level of display and speed. It's minor and easy to ignore. It is not constant distortion but like a quick regen wave.
Game drops back to Window XP without a hitch.

did you uninstal your previous display driver when you did this? Im trying to find where mine is in the uninstall list but cant find a "Nvidia Display Driver". Do you also use the Sager 9260(D900C)?

If you want to uninstall a driver, go to the device manager, go the the properties of the device (display adapter in this case), and find the button that says "uninstall driver".

Would the laptopvideo2go drivers work for an SLI laptop?
The NGO site was a little... nondescriptive in its version descriptions.

"Unstable" is fine, more up to date, possibly even better for you. But, if you run into problems, you might want to consider going back to the latest stable version. NGO is the best "hacked" custom driver I've tried, and I've tried both Omega and DriverHeaven.

I was using the 2.15822 driver from NGO and overclocking SLi. It worked great at 1600x1200, the fps was thru the ceiling. But the GPU started running hotter, mid 50c, and then after about two days of play, it had an Oblivion error. The System had issues, so I dropped the NGO off and reloaded the Drivers from my System disk. This driver does improve 3d Mark06 scores and gives a minor improvement to the CPU score also. But we play games.
I'm back to 1400x1050, which I think looks good, but now I run 35c to 42c on the GPU and I don't see any struggle with the Laptop. It's very stable in performance and temps. I'm going to stay here and pray for the X6900 release. I hope that it is more real than the Tooth Fairy.

Can a D900C with one video card run Oblivion at max res and settings or close to it without it crashing? Thats what happens to me when I play it. Heres hoping these drivers do the trick *Prays*

32-bit color WUXGA resolution at 8x FSAA should require 844 MiB RAM AFAIK. How high are you setting FSAA? I recommend going no higher than 4x, which would need 211 MiB RAM.

My calculations if anyone wants to check me are:
    (1920*1200)*(4+2) * (8*8) / (2^20)
    (1920*1200)*(4+2) * (4*4) / (2^20)

4+2 = number of bytes used for color and Z-buffer

Sounds like you have enough GPU RAM for what you're trying to do. No problem there.

put doom 3 running on these drivers when you go to see outside mars instead of seeing atmosphere you see a enclose area or colers. not a biog deal since the game takes place in corriders.
