Is it worth shelling out $89 for the NP8662's skin? Could I get it cheaper elsewhere?

Those are laptop cases. I'm talking about the skins that you can custom order at XoticPC...
For eg getting the skins at http://www.schtickers.com seems to be a lot cheaper but are there any advantages getting it through xotic?

I would say no because everyone else would be looking at it, but you.

If you can afford it and they're easy to remove and you really want one then go for it.

However, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a sticker.

I personally don't think they're worth it. I'd rather spend that money on hardware that would benefit my machine. Everyone has their own preferences though.

you always could get a cheaper skin but as someone who didn't have any skin on the laptop to someone who now has one, it's pretty darn cool. The finish is fantastic but let's see how durable it is. The colours are about 95% close to what was in my picture but it could have done with a touch more darkness.

Now, the "cool" factor is taking it around the place and popping it open. you get to choose one of their design or do one yourself. Skins are less money than a paint job and imo, just the nice middle of the road customisation that I was looking for.

Take a good look at their page before deciding: http://www.xoticpc.com/exterior-finish-option-a-10.html

    So YEP, it's worth it.

a second note is that it does well to create a flush finish over the panel, and more importantly, hides the Sager branding and striated/brushed effect of the panel material.

I sent in my own graphics and had the skin on the lid and around the keyboard. It has survived over 8 months in the dirt of Iraq with no problems of peeling or overheating the computer. It is a thick sticker that can be removed and replaced when you want it, but I will never try it. It is formed and fitted by the Xotic to fill and fit the areas of the computer and it is pretty decently done. Here is the link to show some examples, mine is the Irish flag with Conan:

I can tell you that they don't disappoint with their custom skins. The wrap around the edges is definitely something other laptop skins dont have. Another plus side is that to my knowledge, the skin helps disguise the fingerprints on your laptop. I've heard that the NP8662 was a fingerprint magnet, and I barely see them on my laptop even though I have very sweaty hands.

On the down side, the custom skin examples that you see on xoticpc are not as shiny as they look imo. Although I was happy, I thought it would be much shinier.
