i know this might have been ask thousan of times....but this is the first time i heard of what sager is and i went to xoticpc.com and notice that when selecting video card, it say 8700m[upgradable], and so the other two cards.

So what i want to know, is it posible to buy the laptop with the 8700m and later on buy the 8800gtx andm install it myself?

Yes, so long as you have the basic technical skills. If you get an earlier version of the 579x series (e.g., the 5791) you will still be able to upgrade to the 8800M, but you will have to make sure that S3 sleep is disabled.

Some of the Clevo resellers (the Sager 5793 is built on a Clevo barebones) do list stand-alone 8800M GPUs for sale, e.g., www.eurocom.com; however, jcovelli's point is probably well-taken - spare 8800Ms are likely to be in short supply.

Eurocom isn't a re-seller. they get wholesale right from Clevo like sager.

they sell the 8800's just look on their site on upgrades.

plus I phones RJtech and asked them they said they sell the spare cards.

You're right, my bad. My apologies to Eurocom, too (now you know why my signature is as it is  ).

I did a whole lot of legwork because I was gonna go barebone to beginwith.

but I ended up selling my m1710. and had enough to buy the whole thing.

i believe it is soldered on. I would never ever get a laptop with a soldered GPU.

you burn the GPU you have to get a whole new mobo
