Well, I'm in the market to buy a gaming laptop and I've been eyeing the Sager 8760. A little bit over my price range, but I'll only be doing Blizzard games and Steam games for the foreseeable future. My only dilemma is that I'm wondering if I should hold off for a month or two seeing how everything in technology ages so rapidly. I'm not in a bad hurry, I can wait maybe a month or so, but if prices don't drop, then I should probably just buy now.

Just like how Apple releases certain product refreshes, is there a "refresh" period for these models so that the 8760 gets a price drop?.

Oh and does XoticPC ever hook customers up (Windows OS, etc)? Stupid question I know, but so far, I've only seen a cheapo $35 military discount...

    Thanks guys.

Just buy whenever you need the notebook. There is no right or wrong time to buy a new notebook, as there will always be new technology coming out, no matter what. If you want to be really picky, you could wait until the GTX 480M starts showing up in some models like the W870CU, if you need the latest technology.

Honestly though, I'd just buy it when you need it. Chances are if you take the approach of waiting another month for that perfect time, you'll be waiting for a very long, as new revisions and new tech will come out just when you're ready to buy.

If you don't need one right away, you can wait to order the new options coming out in August/September.

Considering that the GTX 480M will be out soon along with new models as well as refreshes it is wise to give it more time. If nothing was definitely being released then that would be different.

Which is the right time to throw money away for a gaming laptop?
A very old man, in the scottish High Lands once told me:
"NVIDIA 7950m gtx, 8800m gtx, gtx 480m those are the last 3 'great changes" in laptop gpu by nvidia, which means also the right time to buy"
    :)

If he's talking about wholesale shifts in GPU architecture, there is a point to be made..

I think fairly soon a very good buy could be coming up, in case they decide to phase out a model. I got a brilliant deal on my M570RU-U as they were phasing out - my config $600 off.

Of course I got screwed with tax as my cousin forgot to request they not put the price on the box so I had to put down another 300 bucks in tax as it came across the border to Canada so her dad could bring it down to me in Delhi.

The current promotion for NP8760 looks like the one before it is phased out/replaced by Clevo W880CU with 480M... after that W880CU will only be available with 480M - no MR5870 and at a considerably higher cost (180W power supply, 1 USB 3.0 port etc.)

So now is a good time to buy it

I live in Europe and bought my last two Sagers from the US when the Euro was very strong compared to the dollar. From that point of view a half year ago would have been a better time for us poor Europeans...
