if you do not know already, i recently purchased a Clevo M860TU. I have a mark on the screen that i originally in my naive'ness believed to be 1 dead pixel. The mark is quite big and noticeable from 1-2 feet away. when i look closely at the screen, i can see the lines between pixels but my eyes go crossed and hurt right away. Judgeing from what i can tell the mark is a cluster of dead pixels, atleast 4 - 6 or more.

Is there a way to count how many dead pixels are actually there?

Also i am going to be sending this laptop back, the reason being that yesterday i was doing updates on my NEW laptop and a red line started to appear down the right-middle area. Is the red line caused by a loose/bad LCD connection or the GFX card? the red line goes away and comes back.

Im really starting to get annoyed by all the problems this laptop is having...

I just shipped mine back this past Wednesday for the same problem (blob of dead pixels). The best way I found to count them was to grab a magnifying glass, or take a digital picture with macro on. Both ways really show the grid-line of the screen and in-turn makes it much easier to try and count.

Oh...your laptop is plagued, first the hard drive, then the screen. Eurocom should simply give you a new one and I'm sure they would if it wasn't backordered.

Oh, believe me, they will be getting a call first thing monday morning. I have pictures of everything.

Next time, i will ask for them to just send me the parts, i could easily assemble the lappy and have piece of mind that the workmanship is there.

You can just load up a white screen and then look for black dots on the screen those would be dead pixels. Then load up a back screen full page and look for any colored pixels, those would be stuck pixels which can be fixed sometimes.

Do you think they have any parts? The laptop is backordered now so I'm just wondering if they have some parts cause I might get a spare battery and a back panel someday...

For now, you should find what's the problem. Is it just a bad connector or its really the screen? You can replace the LCD but maybe the cause of the problem is somewhere else. But that's better to replace it yourself since you don't have to ship the laptop back. Btw, how much did it cost to ship it back?

Run something like dead pixel tester, which also has single pixel size examples for comparison, I think, as well as running through every color combination to test for stuck pixels and the like.

i ran dead pixel tester and saw the size of 1 pixel. This is definately bigger then 4 dead pixels. i think around 6. i will try magnifying glass.

With magnifying glass i can count at least 8 dead pixels. I checked eurocoms website and 6 dead is warant enough for replacement.
