    Is there a way to deactive fingerprint reader?

    :) my laptop is coming in soon (1-3 days), is there a way to deactivate the fingerprint reader?

    Sorry if this thread is already been posted.

    Yea, go into device manager and disable the device (don't uninstall it just disable it)

    Also, if you never use it or register fingerprints with it- it's not going to cause any security issues (if that's what you're worried about). You can also physically disconnect it from the motherboard if you felt so inclined, but that's definitely not recommended.

    you might as well stop the Windows Biometric Services in Services.msc if u don't want to use the FPR.

    Mind explaining how to do so? My np5793 just started saying that the fingerprint reading device is not connected when I'm trying to log into windows and I wanted to see if it was connected but wasn't sure how to get to it.

    i had mythlogic disable it before they shipped my system as i game on the trackpad, sounds crazy that i do but it manages with rts. i also disabled it on my acer 8920g.

    The service manual is in my sig - it should give you a good idea on how to disconnect it.
