I have an np8170 and am not able to get my 680m to work with the 120hz lcd. Prema has been working hard on a fix for this, and hopefully will have something soon. I am surprised that no one is pushing hard for clevo to release a new bios like we did for the 7970m (although it turned out to be the video bios anyway.)
I have the latest bios as of march of this year, and don't know if there has been a recent update. If anyone knows, please let me know!
Thanks

There was talk about the current bios not being the best for windows 8? Maybe I heard wrong, but I thought there was a problem with the usb 3 or something.

Hmm, update the USB 3.0 controller firmware with this:
http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...sas_usb3_4.0.2.0(www.station-drivers.com).exe
Then use this driver:
http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...sb3_2.1.39.0whql(www.station-drivers.com).exe
If there are still problems let me know.

Thanks, I am going to update to windows 8 as soon as I can... obtain a copy

Tested it myself yesterday, transferrates of USB 3.0 in Win8 (consumer preview) where excelent using that firmware and driver.

Should I use this with windows 7 or is it a good idea to wait until I install windows 8?
*edit* too late... just upgraded. Downloading windows 8 now, should be done this afternoon! I am looking forward to that multiple monitor support! -
is there still that unnerving issue with the usb3 ports by renesas where the ports sometimes disappear upon system boot? in my case its been like this from the very beginning. on some boots the ports are there,on others they disappear. its gotten sonewhat better with win8 and the microsoft provided drivers. using the renesas ones from station-driver.com only worsened the situation. ive also seen lots of similar reports on the net pertaining to this particular revision of renesas usb3 ports but no valid solution yet. altho best guesses so far are that its somehow driver/firmware-related.
so maybe this new firmware/driver would help out in this instance? whats ur experience with it so far prema?
thx in advance

I was having some issues sometimes when using a usb 2.0 hub and usb 2.0 flashdfive in both usb 3 ports at the same time. both devices would just not work. This update seems to solve that problem.
