I noted that here in the UK Novatech rebadge Clevos... so I am interested in this offering:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/range.html?t=nb&c=all&r=X50

    Is this a Clevo?

If anyone has owned a Novatech Clevo before can anyone tell me what to expect from the screen quality, especially brightness and contrast (assuming all rebadged models use the same screens)?

I really want something close to 300nits so it is useable outdoors (I will be applying an anti-glare film to the glossy screen finish).

well its difficult because the pictures on novatech are not that clear but notice that this model is unique in that it has a small screen on the back of the LCD display. a mini montior

yeah its pretty good but the novatech is DDR3 so there sould be quite a difference, compal is irritatingly still DDR2!

so the 9600gt DDR3 will plausably be over 7000 marks ....maybe?

    know something I don't:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/range.html?t=nb&c=all&r=X50

    says DDR 2 there 800..

EDIT: you meant the Nvidia.. ok, but once DDR main memory starts to appear as well, should be some improvement

I believe the DDR3 ram on the card will not be affected by the DDR2 on the mainboard. So it may well run faster than the one linked, at least as fast hopefully, it's quick enough for me anyhow.

I really like the look of this lappy, would love to see a review though. Apparently there is one in "this month's" what laptop but it isn't mentioned on the what laptop website.
