Nevermind, found some info on malibal, they are clevo resellers so I'm pretty sure it is what I though. Good pricing, though I didn't check S&H.

I think $1,605.88 is the lowest "cash" price I've seen.. Apparently they have an account on the forums as well. Have to look into this further.

Yes there is a malibal rep here on nbr. Although they aren't new, I haven't heard of anyone getting a system from them.

Neat, how come there isn't a picture of the back? I would like to se the back, as so I can see what the most visible part of the laptop when it's closed looks like (as well as what the logo looks like)

Yeah, I'm considering them or xoticpc. Malibal has the better price and a price guarantee, but are located in Las Vegas, vs xoticpc in Nebraska. Seeing as how I'm in Chicago, I think xoticpc would get hear about a day faster. Have to see if ~$30 is worth waiting a day.. tough call.

I don't know the difference between the two. But Malibal offers a Clevo (W860CU) and XoticPC offers a Sager NP8690 built on the W860CU. If you get it shipped from Xotic expect 3 business days for shipping, possibly 4. UPS tracking info: 10/09 9pm departure, origin scan 10/13 8pm arrival scan in Hodgkins, IL. Hope this helps you. If anyone could shed some brief light on the difference of simply getting a Clevo notebook and a Sager branded notebook it would be very helpful.

You know, that's a really good point. (And thanks for sharing the tracking info, I know my stuff goes through Hodgkins all the time).

My understanding was that Clevo does the barebones stuff and Sager picks it up from there.. So for most of North America, a W860CU = NP8690.. However, I'm not sure if that holds true for the rest of the world. I've just never seen another company in North America work with Clevo other than Sager. Of course, I've only been watching the last few months anyway, so I don't have much experience to go off of.

From what I can tell, it would affect who your warranty would be going through. For the first year, with xotic, you would be covered by sager for parts & labor, as a standard (correct me if I'm wrong) and an additional 2 years labor through xotic & lifetime phone support. With Malibal, they would be handling the parts & labor (again, correct me if I'm wrong) for one year only. I just went off the basic warranty.

You should look into it yourself though, to compare your options, and if you can contact each by phone and get a further understanding of where they stand for you personally.
