    Hey Guys,

I'm buying a new laptop from PCSpecialist, The Enigma IV PCSPECIALIST - EnigmaIV Laptops, EnigmaIV Gaming Laptops, Build Your Own EnigmaIV Laptop .

I have no Idea what laptop this is based off and I would like to know before I buy it. Anyone have any idea?

Also, with regards to the configuration of the laptop, I am undecided on what CPU to get. All I want to achieve is to not bottleneck the 650m. What CPU would be best suited for my needs? Either on of the Pentiums, the i3 or the base i5. There is around £35 between each. The more i can save the better.

    Cheers.

It's a W150ER. I'd get at least an i5, and make sure you select one of the FHD screens, the low res ones are horrible.

Dont think its a Clevo. Pretty sure its a Compal QAL51.

I do agree to get an i5 though.

Thanks for the info guys. I was going to go for the 1080p screen. Never had a 1080p laptop and I would like to start watching my movies in super high-res lol.

With regards to the CPU, will the i3 not do the job? From what I can see the only thing that it lacks is Turbo Boost. I'm looking for the cheapest option that would keep up in gaming.

You could go with an i3 but that would be your bottleneck. The i5 is a good combination with the 650M in there. If the GPU was lower like 620M then an i3 could be a good match.

Not a big difference between the i3 3120M and k5 3230M, but the i5 will at least give you Turbo Boost, which is not supported by the i3.

Naturally an i7 would be more ideal if you can swing it though. It's less than £80 difference between the 3230M and the 3630QM.

If I was to up my budget I would need to wait. And if I was going to wait I would probably wait it out for the 7 series. They should be coming soon enough anyway. Hoping around June.

Hopefully the June rumors stay true. May is just this Wednesday so June is pretty much just a month away.

I'd wait till the 8 series chipset and Haswell get relaesed in the next month, you might find you can scoop up an Optimus IV for a similar price (W350ETQ ) , giving yourself the massive benefit of the gDDR5 and that GTX 660m should be compatible with the Nvidia Shield Project, which looks pretty exciting.......... I shall be getting involved in this =)

Don't lean on the June rumor, as it's still fairly speculative. :)

Also, the 7 series is already out, but many of the current chips are not high-end gaming. If you're thinking of a 780M, that was announced early this year, but there is no release date for that either.

Early June is when the Embargo should be lifted on the CPU front and we should be seeing units shipping with them by end of the month. No firm information has been provided on that front but I feel fairly safe that early July should be the latest we see. The GPU side of things is a little more speculative as well as the lower end 7xx series have dropped but no word on the higher end cards has really been given. I wouldn't expect them until around August though and possibly into September.

Intel did just recently confirm Haswell's introduction at Computex. They even have a countdown timer (in nanoseconds...) until it hits the market. So the rumor finally came to fruition!
