    Is this normal? 8800GXT & XoticPC question

    So I got my new 5793 today \m/ Rock On \m/

    I've not even loaded any games on it yet, but I have a question about the video card. From the get-go, just browsing through Vista, the fan on the 8800 kicks up for about a second then shuts off. Is this normal or is there something going on there?

    Also, when you buy a laptop from XoticPC, are all the drivers up to date from the time of purchase or will I need to update them? If Justin is around, maybe he could answer that. :)

    I love this thing so far. Best lappy I could have bought.

    Yes thats normal.... in fact, theres a huge thread on it here:

    When the system is turned on, its Fans are on auto to turn on when the temps reach a certain point... then turn off when its cooled down enough.

    You should use the Fan Toggles:
    The fan keys are toggle, when you start your laptop you are in Auto mode.

    Press Fn+1 and you switch to Full Speed
    Press Fn+1 again and you're back to Auto

    Press Fn+3 and you switch to Medium Speed mode
    Press Fn+3 again and you're back to Auto

    Not another fan thread, I`m going insane here!
    I just hope sager will release a new firmware soon that will fix the fan ramping and auto`mode resume permanently...
