Just ordered the 9150 with the windows 7 addition, was wondering if windows is installed on the main hard drive if no dvd option is chosen.

    Congrats on your order!
Yes it will be installed on there. There are a couple other ways to install it like a USB optical drive or flash drive.

I'm impressed at two things here:

    1. The xoticpc rep knew that OP ordered from them based on the subject line even though neither the subject nor body contain the word "xoticpc".

    2. The xoticpc rep is answering questions on NBR on a Sunday freaking night.

Just made the decision where I'm buying from.

There exist tools for making bootable USB drives from .iso files or from DVDs. Microsoft has one (the " Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool") that is specifically intended to create bootable USB drives to install windows from onto devices without optical drives.

Yes, you can turn the Windows 7 DVD you own into a .iso file using a program such as ImgBurn. You can also legally download a Windows 7 .iso from (after all, when you buy Windows, you're not buying the install media, you're buying the activation key). Elsewhere on the NBR forums, there is a thread with links to various Windows 7 install media in .iso form.
