Congrats on the new beast. I still take care of mine and it still looks mint.
Remember these things to have your notebook be healthy for years:
1) Battery: to maintain the longevity of any rechargeable battery
- you must NEVER overcharge it [especially for long durations of time] by keeping it plugged into AC
- when it reaches 100% you should unplug it and let it discharge to 5-15%, then plug it back to power
- OR you can just charge it to 50%+ and remove the battery and store in cool place [remember to use it occasionally to charge and discharge it].
2.) Heat: to prevent a healthy notebook from overheating
- ALWAYS use the notebook on a hard & flat surface
- RECOMMENDED to be used on a notebook cooler... namely the Zalman ZM-NC1000
- (for Clevo's) ALWAYS use the Fan Speed Toggle (Fn+F2) to switch all fans in the notebook to Max Speed (defaults at Auto Speed) when gaming and such.
- check your fans underneath occasionally (at least once a month) for any dust clogs [clean them out with Q-tips and air cans/compressors]
- ALWAYS monitor the temps (CPU, GPU, HDD, etc..) to watch for fluctuations, which would indicate overheating
By doing these simple things, your system will easily last for more than 3 years.
My notebook is a little over a year old, its battery and videocard is as healthy as when I got it.
PS. If you want me to go over the software, just ask.
Hope this helps,
-Gophn -
My only issue with mine is the audio, it's ok for gaming but for CD playback don't expect any sort of quality.
Congrats on the purchaseyou won't regret it.
-

Congratulations, it must be exciting to get a new machine - especially something as nice as the NP5760.
Listen go Gophn's tips - I've been doing most of them with my Sager and it looks and performs the way it did out of the box when I got it a year and a half ago. -
Ya i unpluged it after it reached 100% didnt know about being able to control fan like that so just shot it up to max or atleast i think it is cuz its purring
thanks for all the help and support guys. @ midnit no i didnt get the dead pixel policy thats why im excited heh my brother is obssesed with vista so i called him and hes comeing over later to help me with it so i should be good there. thanks for all the tips ill post more updates as i get em
i got the keningston contour backpack that was recomended as well its a tight fit at first but should be good.. is that cooling pad portable? like able to fit int he bag as well or no? -
Set the Environment option to Carpeted Hallway.
And if you want even more quality, set the Equalizer to Soft (as in Soft Rock)
Try it, it worked well for several people, using WinAmp especially. -
where did you orrder you notebook from?
-
I ordered it from Xoticpc.com Great site fast delivery and easy payment glad i did

nice setup, look like you even got the Carbon Fiber edition G7 mouse too.
-
ya heh g15 keyboard and g7 mouse ftw

Viewing your setup made me thought you might want a notebook stand. APC makes a good one. Checkout my review somewhere here. It's the APC ergonomic notebook stand with 4 ports USB hub, part # ENS-USB. It gives a little more room for the keyboard and makes the screen higher/closer to you.
Clearly a winner for gameplay.
AND, as a matter of fact, if your interested, I have one brand new and sealed. It's a return from APC as the original broke when inserting the vid cable while the laptop was in the stand - duh. But I had 2 and I don't use the other one at work as we now have a different kind of desk and don't need it. Just PM me.

CORNDOGS FTW! (Though I'm more of a mustard guy)
Be prepared to love it unconditionally! As far as Gophn's suggestions, keep in mind that running without the battery is kind of problematic with these units, since it is used for the left rear foot. But I can wholeheartedly endorse the Zalman NC-1000 cooler he suggested. It is an excellent piece, and I swear by it.
I sourced mine from xVx, but it is essentially the exact same machine and it has been a blast from day 1. Congratulations! -
kk i think ill go with the coolder on your guys recomendation just curious is it at all portable and can it fit in with the Contour backpack aswell or no?
-
Although if you want a good notebook cooler thats portable, I would recommend:
Vantec LapCool4
Read here for the review of it with the Clevo M570U

It folds up and fits in any bag or backpack. -
I,ve got one tip for you too>
Buy a external keyboard, specialy if you play games, the walking/jumpin/crouhcing keys will get marked and will look older then the rest . my Inspiron 8200 look ugly .
I Recommend Rosewill RK650, i used it with my xps 170 i ahd for more the one year and used with the 1710 2 months before they stole it all the oc and the keyboard .
If it doesnt get stolen it will go for years and years . -
well i have the logitech g15 keyboard but it wont fit in the bag but pretyt much the olny time i will not use a external keyboard is when i use the laptop in class which will prob be about 15% of the time the other 85% will be on my desk or at my house which i will indeed use the g15 keyboard
-
Congrats ghost you finally got it! Holy crap that set-up looks nice lol. I got a notebook cooler along with mine from xotic and it helps alot with its heat...I have not tried the max fan yet while gaming even though I know hwo to so I will start doing that...and with leaving it plugged in...I leave mine on desktop and kept it plugged in after its charge was 100% and leave it plugged in over night. So from what I understand I should NOT do that?
Yes the 5760 is a beast...I have been plaing Supreme COmmander on high settings with max units on and it barely lags at all even right in the middle of combat...its really crazy...I am extremely happy of my Sager's performance... -
Do you plan to go to 4 gig of ram in the near future? Just wondering why you selected 64 bit Vista.
-
when i ordered it from xoticpc thats how it came ... came with vista 64 bit installed and they shiped the 32bit and 64 bit cd's ... so far i havent run into any problems with vista and yes i plan to up the ram in the near future
-
I have had no problems with 64 bit Vista either.
The enhanced security that comes with the 64 bit version is nice to have too.
It's Finaly Here!!!!
