Well it seems that everyone who reads the forum chose the T9300. I wonder how well my t7500 would do against it... :D
Nice purchase dude, guess we won`t see much of you here anymore unless for the well deserved bragging rights :D

OMG this thing is awesome! I question a few things, but over all I cant get over this thing! I'm watching a Blu Ray on it while I'm posting here on my dell!

I ordered it Monday and it was at my door Friday! Unreal!

Ok, here are my questions.... I'm not a guru so if they seem like simple lame questions, I apologize, its partially why I'm here!

I thought I would get a hard copy receipt with my order, but did not! Is that weird or typical? Just the Laptop and the xtra Targus bag I ordered.

I'm not convinced my screen is the Glossy one I ordered, although I do know it's the 1900X1200. The only reason I say it is because of the Glossy screen I have on my Dell... it's crazy glossy and makes my new 5793 look like it's been sprayed with a mat finish.

TV Tuner card. There's no software for it listed in my programs like on my other comps with a card in it. Is the only way to view tv through windows media center?

My video camera gives me an error when I click on Video View. It gives me a Can't Open Registry Key!! error Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me why there are 2 Program File logs in the C drive? I have vista ult 64 bit. The second one is Programs Files (x86)

This isn't a huge, issue, but an irritation I always have with hard drives! I hate ordering a 200 gig hard drive only to see it having 186 gig!

With all that whining, I have to say I love my 5793!

I just ordered the same set-up with Vista Business instead of Ultimate. Will let you know what my screen looks like when I receive my lappy along with the other issues...

There are 2 Program Files because the x86 is for 32bit apps and the other one is for 64 bit apps.
As for the other things, try updating the drivers from www.sagernotebook.com , about the screen make sure it`s not matte, and then call your supplier.

you always lose some HDD space after formatting, there was a big huhaa about it a while back but it didnt go anywhere, they were trying to make vendors specify the exact storage space rather than the one they were doing.

my 1920x1200 wuxga is glossy, very glossy, just make sure there isnt a protective film to remove from your screen, (just in case)

I was under the impression that the WUxga was generally glossy while the wsxga was matte

Eleron, thanks very much! I just updated the drivers and it works perfectly now!

How do I make sure whether or not it is matte? Is there a part number I can find that will define that? I've been googling the crap out of it and it seems that maybe I do have the glossy, it's just not nearly as glossy as Dells. Kind of sad, but whatever. It's not as bright either. I've messed with it and have it to where I'm happier though.

I love this thing...... did I already mention that?! by the way, the caution sign in your sig was the topic today at work! We're making posters! lol

Bofh I about crapped my pants when you said protective film! Unfortunately its not. I think I might have the matte dang it! I ordered xtra glossy! That's the part that kind of bums me out about not getting a hard copy of my receipt! It's nice to have just to confirm I got what I ordered ya know. ugh

Is there a matte version of the 1900X1200? I didn't see that on the order, but remember seeing somewhere that there is indeed that option.

can you take a pic of the screen?

WUXGA matte screens are rare... mainly seen on 17" MacBook Pro's.

oh no you didnt get a clevo, they sent you a mac aaaarrrggghhh! :)

there was a time when the highest res screens were matte only, it seems to have turned on its head.

your order confirmation whould have the proper spec listed
    its still a legal document

OH NOOOS!! Not a mac!! I checked my confirmation and yep, it says
Display: 17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920X1200)

I'm going to have to assume that its as glossy as it comes. If you notice on the Xotic site where you can build the 5793, both versions of the screen are Glare Type super glossy. Only difference is WSXGA is 1680 X 1050 and the WUXGA is 1920 X 1200. Based on that, I have to assume the look is the same!

I guess I'm just spoiled by my ultra glossy Dell! Oh well, not a down fall by any means!

Gophn, once my SonyA100 battery charges up I'll snap some shots for you. They'll be up in about an hourish

    **Edit**
Ok, I'm completely impatient. I used my BlackBerry for these shots so they obviously aren't high quality. I'm amazed at the difference though. I just made a black screen in photoshop and snapped. Check this out if you can.

on the left you can see the outline of my shoulder reflected in the Dell, on the right, nothing in the Sager.

Here's the reflection of me and my blackberry in the Sager....
    It's there, not non existant..

Now check out the reflection of the Dell! Quite a difference no?

I dont understand, I can see my face clearly in mine if I have a darkish screen on
(I know its not pretty, I am getting therapy for that :) )

but mine is as glossy as my acer laptop was, it shines reflects, hates sunlight, ticks all the boxes...............I'm confused.com

I think it's glossy Bofh, it's just not as glossy as my Dell. It more than makes up for it in every other aspect so I'm giddy with it! The color on it is much better too. I never noticed the blacks being a dark shade of mud! Now I can't believe how black the blacks are on my Sager.

I've extremely happy with this PC all the way around!

    Gophn,
I think I will get that. I use that type of skins on my Blackberrys and totally stand by them! It's a great product for sure

well, I can certainly see the difference in reflections in the pics you posted...however, I must say the glossy screen on my 5793 is the brightest glossiest I've seen on a laptop...hmmm..perhaps despite your request, and despite the documentation of your order, the builder simply made a mistake and put a matte screen in....anyway, enjoy this AWESOME computer!

Yeah, I suppose thats certainly a possibility. I'm a little bummed still over it. But I'm getting over it, especially thinking of shipping it back just for that! I don't think I could deal with it being gone now even if only for a week! The colors are much better than my Dell, but it certainly isn't as glossy or bright.
    KK, enough said on that!

    Congrats on your new machine...

Unfortunately, there's no real standard on "glossy" so you get whatever the manufacturer of the screen thought was glossy enough.

What, if anything, does Device Manager give you for a screen ID?

The TV Tuner is built in, but has an external antenna. I hook it up to my cable connection so the quality is perfect! If I'm out and about, I can hook up the antenna and get ok quality, but nothing to get excited over.

Just as a side note, BluRay is amazing. I really am surprised at the difference in clarity between DVD and BluRay.

Dude, take a picture of it,and make sure to have the flash on. If it reflects the flash, it`s glossy,if it doesn`t,it`s not.

i wanna get BluRay but im going to wai til the players go down in price a bit more though then i will start up a collection, can you copy BluRay disks to the HD like normal DVD's?

also a side question, if a DVD has a sticker on it saying that it is copyright protected can it still be copied on to the HD, i wann copy Lee Evans onto mine when i get it as he is so funny.

unfortunately forum rules prohibit talking about circumventing copyright
no matter how unfair the terms are.

you will have to investigate n the web yourself.

true, that is supposedly ok, but the technology used to get around the copy protection on the disc, is classed as illegal, which is an annoyance.
I am sure we have all noticed how fair use is disappearing

dont know if it still exists but dvdshrink used to work fine.

Your best friend for DVD backup should be:
    - DVDShrink (discontinued)
    - DVDDecrypter (discontinued)
    - RipIt4Me
(which is an updated front-end that takes over the 2 programs above, to rip almost 99% of all DVDs.)

Or you can just use the awesome combo:
    - Slysoft AnyDVD
    - DVDShrink
