Many sources put the NDA lift date April 23. So I hope we'll hear about the price/model availability mid night today in Clevo/Sager lappies. Can't wait!

Probably not until Intel opens their doors and says go, sometime around 10am PST.

I thought some of the resellers here said that it was still the 29th and not the 23rd?

23rd is the IVB "Announcement Date". The 29th is the sale/ad date.

Myth, I'm a little confused... So 23rd announcement... how is that different from 29th sale/ad? Will we get all info tomorrow including prices? Will we see IB on preorder tomorrow? Are they going to start shipping to resellers on the 29th or will resellers start shipping to end users on the 29th? Any (non NDA) info would be helpful :)

Sale/Ad dates allow you to list products and pricing and also allow the sale of said products. Announcements just let you say your are going to have said products.

We have the ole  to Intel also on this decision, and will be reaching out for clarification tomorrow morning also to see exactly how much information we can share.

Thanks... I think. It just means I've spent WAAAY too much time here the last few years lol.

    -----

I can wait another week for Ivy Bridge. Nothing lost. I really enjoy my HP DM1. I just returned the AMD version and got the Intel version just before I noticed this little Clevo gem. So I guess my Intel DM1 will have to go back too, I think I have another week to return it though. Then I'll have to live with my POS Asus Eee 1215b. It's been disassembled and reassembled several times to swap out HDD, but every time I end up breaking some clips so it rattles and has electrical tape holding it together, it's got water damaged LCD, although still works, and the touchpad is the worst ever. But I guess it will have to suffice for the next few weeks until I get this Clevo.

What's the point? Some places are already selling it. Hasn't everybody known for ages that resellers will be selling Ivy Bridge?

As for those of us waiting on IB for our orders to be fulfilled, does this mean that we have to wait until April 29 to complete our build? My order has been in Phase 1 for over a month!

That's what it sounds like. It sucks to have to wait so long, but the 29th is the only date I've seen any of the vendors mention in terms of IVB availability.

I'm kind of new to all of this, but how much difference will IB make in terms of Battery Life and Heat?

Also, think it would be worth waiting for it to be released to consider purchasing a new laptop? I've been looking at Clevos and love that they can have the branding removed with very nice specs.

5 years of a dell, I feel like it can die at any time! :p

Yeah I'm hoping with a Kepler GPU and an IB that the laptop fans will run relatively quiet. I'm really in need of a new laptop but an extra week or so won't hurt.

I think most people are expecting it to be a small improvement in both heat and battery life, but every little bit helps.

As far as waiting or not, if you're looking at a Sager, you might not have a choice but to wait at this point. They were talking about not sending out any more SB machines, but I'm not sure when the cutoff date is/was. Either way, it's only 6 more days for IB so it'd be silly not to wait at this point, IMO.

I'm sorry if this question was asked before, is the NP9170 going to support Ivy bridge?

I'm also waiting on the release of Ivy bridge to order and was wondering if I had to consider the NP9270 instead.

    Thanks!

    Two issues:

    a) The NP9270 (Clevo P270WM) has not been released yet. May be May/June before these actually ship.

    b) The NP9270 (Clevo P270WM) will run the IVB-E desktop CPU, not the normal IVB or IVB-M, chips which will be ready in the upcoming days. This chip is not scheduled until late 2012 (or possibly 2013).

Wondering about this also. I was thinking that maybe when IB comes out that I could grab a SB laptop for a little cheaper, but it sounds like SB will be discontinued entirely.

The 9170 was just released a couple weeks ago. If it didn't support IB, then it would probably be the shortest lasting laptop in history.

I doubt you need to play D3 on the 15th... If you insist on having it by then, you've got two options:
    1) Order now, get a SB cpu, possibly have to pay for faster shipping.
    2) Wait for IB, go with a reseller that'll allow you to bribe them to rush your order, possibly pay for faster shipping

Contact some resellers privately and ask what they're production times currently are, and what they expect them to be after IB. SB shouldn't be a problem really since most people are waiting to get IB. It just depends on what place in line your order gets. If you've got quite a few people in front of you, then hopefully they're isn't some kind of shortage with a part you want.. Just things to consider.

    Ah. There this thread is.

If it makes you feel any better about having an old computer, it took a water-damaged 720*1024 screen, multiple large chassis cracks fixed with tape, a dead HDD, multiple broken keys, a rouge anti-virus, and my gpu falling off  to finally kill my old thinkpad...

Also, you've been averaging 10-15 posts per day here, from when you joined, but it's closer to 30-35 now. That doesn't seem like too much to me, I play Super Smash Bros. Melee for 3-5 hours every day I don't have school... :) Pros need to practice, no?

Haha. Well I work full time and a single parent of two kids not even in school yet. But it's easy to spend 5-10 minutes throwing out posts while my kids destroy the house before I have to go busting some heads together, lol. I just can't spend time playing games like I used to.

    On whose site?

According to intel, the 2720/2760/3720 parts have a recommended price identical to their "6" brethren, but clevo and alienware like to bloat the price a lot. That's why they're so cheap on Mythlogic.
