Intel's 22nm Ivy Bridge (Mobile) Processor Exposed, Die Size and Architecture Detailed
According to this article, Ivy Bridge should be backwards compatible with the Sandy Bridge models we have right now, although some new features like native USB 3.0 support / native PCI-E 3.0 support would not be implemented, it is good to know that we should be able to take the new "tick" processors!
Looks really promising to me..

. That article only addresses the desktop chipsets, not the HM65 or HM67 chipsets in use in the current notebook lineup.
It would be great if it was compatible, but it looks like it's still supposed to be a completely new socket for mobile. -
Well in the article, it states info from the IDF 2011, which states Ivy Bridge's backward compatibility with the Sandy Bridge though..
Although this may not be the most official article, it seems to cite some renown sources and holds lots of info...
It doesn't hurt to keep my fingers crossed! -

It looks like socket-wise, it is identical...
But it's ultimately up to Clevo for the BIOS.... -
It seems like the release date is sometime 2012 Q2.
I wonder if this will lower the price of current sager/clevo models towards the end of the year -

i'm really curious as to how much less power/ more battery life it would use/have in real life usage, but we'll just have to wait for that.
Ivy Bridge gets exposed!
