Finally it is here. I got some pictures for some eye candy.

If anyone wants specific pictures of the laptop feel free to let me know

I will do a full review later but as of now i can say this. Its built well. just by picking it up you can feel that its not flimsy.

The sound isnt bad at all. In the video it seems louder than it really is because i put the mic really close to the fan but in general you would never know its on. It does get loud while gaming but not too bad. When ends up making all the noice is the powerbrick.

Everyone that ordered one will be happy they waited for it. My only dissapointments is that i never got my spare battery in my package and i ordered one but im sure xoticpc and i can straighten things out.

The bad... but really not that bad. It seems like the plastic is a little loose over the CD reader but thats an easy fix or at least i hope it is. I have noticed that the power cable tends to slip out easy. (good and bad thing). And my last little dig is that the ethernet hookup is on the same side as the mouse so it gets in the way a little but not bad.

    My specs
    nVidia GeForce 9800M GT
    Intel Mobile Duo 2.8ghz T9600
    320g 7,200rpm

Looks good, a lot of people are worried about the temperatures, of hard disk and GPU, idle and under stress, any info on that would be appreciated.

congrats on the new rig. :)

I recommend you get a notebook cooler for that to make sure it stays as cool as possible... especially with the 7200rpm drive and the high-end videocard. ;)

Nice videos! Congrats on your new beast. How loud is it when it's idle? I can't tell too well in the video because my volume is going to be set lower/louder than it really is. I really want to see another one with the packaging off of the NP8660 ;) (it's too dark to really see what it looks like in the idle sound video). What do you think of the screen?

By the way, amazing temps all around after the stress test.

Looks like Ad@m's hard drive was indeed defective, since this one is showing 52 degrees after load.

Ill make another video when its not 5am lol, But all together dont worry about the sound. I can honestly tell you that you cant hear it running when its at idle. Even under a heavy load its a hum but not annoying.

With that being said when the laptop hums and the powerbrick hums together it can get kinda loud.

Have no fear of beinging it into a classroom or libary etc...

I dont know if people have been getting bad screens but im wicked awesome. Extremly clear and very crisp. No dead pixels.

    Congratulations mate.
Would you mind making more through tests?
Would you mind trying some CPU and GPU stress tests?
For CPU you could use Prim95 or Orthos and for GPU, ATItools of Furmark.
Also, if you could use Rivatuner and RMclock (together with HWmonitor) to monitor temps and clocks, that would be great.

    Congrats again.

Not hot at all... I had an M15x with a 120GB 7200rpm HDD and the temperature was above 50ºC at all times.
    Those temperatures are completely normal.
People are all just getting carried away in a globalized panic reaction.
    Those temps are completely fine.

its always worth getting a cooler... especially for gaming notebooks that give off more heat than basic notebooks.

heat + mechanics = lower lifespan

so the lower the heat, the longer the system will last. ;)

Its the a Razer DeathAdder. You can get one at Best Buy for about $50.00

    On Another Note

I took some more pictures with a ruler and of a soda can hope this helps

Also as far as the 2.8ghz i love it. the power is great and even though i do have quite the powerhouse of a laptop battery life isnt bad.

I get a little over 2 hrs with the computer in Power Saver mode and running the web. I could get even better Battery life is i darkened the screen some more.

Update- No spare battery cause they dont have any to give right now. So if you have ordered a spare dont expect to get it with your laptop. But your sale never fully closes until they send it to you.

I think Ad@m among others said there is no flex in the keyboard.

I'm curious about key noise though. Read one report of very quiet keys except the spacebar, others haven't said much so far. The PCGH review said the keys were kind of loud.

I also like to use coke to compare each contries economy and pricing. for instance, a bottle of coke in europe is about €1.50 while in canada its $1.20, so about €.60

There is a little flex on the left side of the keyboard. Far over around shift and Ctrl but you have to push hard and quite frankly if you are pushing that hard when you type you have to do some self assesments cause theres no reason to take anger out on the keyboard :p
Theres non else where maybe if you are very picky some around the arrow keys but once again you have to be pushing the keys to all hell.

    Keyboard sound

Yes it is loud. I am not a heavy typer but i am fast and this thing makes a sound. as people have mentioned most of the sound doesnt come from the letter keys its more the spacebar that makes it seem loud.

So over all the keys make normal to quiet noice

Space bar sound is very loud asscesially when you start to type fast. It doesnt bother me too much but i can see how it gets annoying. No one wants to look like that geeky computer key slammer right well this space bar will do it for you.

Performance, build quality, fan noise (especially when gaming), and the laptop in good light so we can see what it looks like up close. How does the NP8660 look in person? Does the screen creak or wobble when you move the laptop and open and close it? Thanks!

Riopel said there's no wobble or creak in the screen in Ad@m's thread. I'm curious how stiff it is though.
