I just installed my new card I got today, and for some reason the PC is running off the Integrated card, I ran CPU-Z and its not showing anything for the Graphics section... Any Ideas? I also installed the Drivers Sager sent me just in case, but still nothing.

This is the latest BIOS I could find, would this work?
SAGER versions for
BIOS V 1.01.14 &
EC/KBC V 1.00.13 November 2011 Mediafire link for USB files
Mediafire link for ISO files
Thanx to Atmosk Updated fan table & other minor updates
USB- Run autoexec.bat from each folder.First the one from the EC folder to update EC firmware - computer will shut down, then the one from the BIOS folder.
ISO-burn each ISO to a different CD, run first the CD with the EC let it update (it will shut down), then run the BIOS CD and let it update. -
tried updating the bios using this guide http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-7970m-modded-vbios-clevo-p1xxhm-laptops.html
but it comes back saying something along the lines of the Flash has already been prepared rebooting in 5 seconds. Im so lost. -
Ummm... That doesn't sound right. Don't think integrated graphics is enabled on your unit, no switchable graphics.
-
You have a picture? So the AMD card must work, because the Intel GPU is not used in the HM Models, it is not cabled, so the GPU can't work.
Installed my 7970M yesterday without any problem. Have you removed any old drivers before you have changed the card? Did you have tried to run driver sweeper to clean the system and install the 13.2 beta 6 drivers for example? -
Yeah I have a Picture, But everything is running low, I tried to launch WOW and it was running at 1fps. And like I Said CPU Z shows no graphics card, i tried to run the drivers on the disk Sager sent me, but it says unable to find hardware.
-
My Bios is old its form 8/9/2011 according to CPU Z.
when I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD it says that I do not have a proper graphics adapter.. -
Sorry to keep posting but i just came up on something else, I went into Device manager, and theres a "Other Devices" with a ? on it, i clicked update drivers and it recognized the card, but then it goes to display devices with a ? but says AMD 7970m, the screen says windows found driver software but encountered an error attempting to install it. "Windows stopped the device because it has reported problems (code 43) at this point i downloaded the drivers from AMD and installed them, but they didnt install correctly it now shows up in device manager but with a yellow ! mark, and still says Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
-
You may have done this already, but have you checked if the card is seated nice and snug?
I would also suggest you follow this guide: -
how to properly uninstall ATI/AMD Software Drivers for Graphics Cards.
after doing that, install the drivers provided by Sager, then update them with the official drivers from AMD.
All the best! hope it ain't too bad of an issue. -
following that driver guide now... hoping this does the trick
-
Meh I have no idea... sorta getting frustrated, I installed off the disc after deleting all that stuff, installed fine... but I still have a yellow ! in the device manager...

Driver Install: the driver package does not specify a hardware identifier -
Heaps frustrating. Sorry to hear mate, but all i can suggest at this stage, is that you try updating surrounding drivers, e.g. chipset and etc. then run through the guide (again) and install the drivers.
Otherwise another sucky alternative would be to format and start fresh. At least when you choose this method you can find out whether the card is faulty or not. -
I've an p170HM with BIOS 1.0.1.10 and EC x.x.09 - you should look into the Bios if it is the Last official BIOS/EC release. If you have a picture, the card works - i think it is a driver / bios problem.
Do you have a small HDD or something else where you can just install a new Windows to try and error? -
Well I have switched back to my 6990m, everything is normal again, I started getting Windows 8 Blue Screens of Deaths about windows not loading because of an atisygas or something similar to that, so I put my old card back in and its fine. not sure whats going on, I sent a email to Tanner at Xotic, maybe he can help. If not I guess im stuck returning it

I did notice while dinking in my F2 upon windows boot earlier it said something about vBIOS 4/2012, I've never officially updated my BIOS for the life of the PC which I bought in 2011. -
hey buddy!
first of all, i need some infos from ur side:
enter ur system bios by pressing f2 at system boot and tell me what it says on the first page concerning ur bios and ec version. (system, NOT video bios)
also, from what ive read here, ure using windows 8, is that correct?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
Last night I even reseated the chip, still wasnt working, from what I read online it could be any of the following. Bios, drivers, power supply or a faulty card. I think I tried everything with the drivers. -
alright, both ur BIOS and EC are the latest versions, thats good for starters.
also, it seems like ur 7970M really DOES work, since our machines dont have a functioning iGPU.
have u tried installing the drivers after disabling the driver signature enforcement in windows 8? here is how its done: » Updated: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8 LaslowNET
once rebooted, try and install the latest 13.2 beta6 drivers and report back to me.
cheers -
Ok so I put the card back in, now I'm getting those windows 8 blue screens again saying it had a problem loading Atikmdag.sys, earlier if I tried to restore during the automatic repair it just sat at a windows logo, no movement. I uninstalled the drivers before switching cards out...
-
Doesn't seem I can get past this now without putting in the 6990m. I am beyond frustrated
___
Ok it rebooted into windows going to follow that link and install 13.2 -
be sure to uninstall all gpu drivers (using a driver sweeper), then take out the 6990m and install the 7970m, then disable driver signature enforcement and at last install the 13.2 beta6 drivers.
-
Ok doing it again now that I was able to get back to windows.. This will be my last attempt because I have to leave for work soon
-
Ok so I uninstalled everything ATI, used driver sweeper and deleted all ATi stuff, installed 13.2, and device manager still shows the card with a yellow ! Code 43...
I get an error from catalyst that reads "no AMD graphics driver is installed or the amd driver is not functioning properly"
That wa after installation saying it was successful and had the green logo for success
If I go into properties and click details and scroll to problem code, it says 0000002B -
And now after a reboot its going back to the blue screens... <sigh>
One thing I noticed when I first opens the card was Sager put instructions for an EM machine, is it possible they sent me maybe a wrong card that was made for EM machines and not HM? I doubt it's a possibility but I don't know what else to think/say besides that I'm frustrated lol -
its definitely not an EM version, otherwise ur screen would stay completely black.
this is really weird indeed. the reported value 0000002B (code 43) basically describes that windows doesnt allow ur 7970M to function properly due to a driver / compatibility issue.
try and see if anything changes with this driver right here: http://download.benchmark3d.com/AMD/Mod/13.2-BETA/AMD_Catalyst_13.2_Beta3_7900_MOD_ULPS_OFF.7z
if that fails, try and format ur hard drive and use a fresh win8 system. maybe u could use a different hard drive for that first, just to see if it works. -
-
Just an update, I restored windows on my laptop (actually downgraded it to Windows 7) clean install... Installed drivers, same problems exist, yellow ! mark and code 43. So now im stuck with 3 Choices..
1. Refund
2. Exchange
3. Send in Laptop and have Sagers team take a look. -
1, 2 or 3... if you are standing right, there will be a shining light..
So, if all steps you have taken aren't resolving your problem - i would suggest, that it is useful to send sager your laptop if you still have guarantee on it and you bought the 7970m from them. But, this maybe take more time to accomplish - so if you want to come earlier to a finalisation, take number 2 and try it with an exchange of the card. Because if your old 6990 works properly, there shouldn't be any other problem at the laptop. -
-
Sounds realy like a faulty chip - exchange it and then BAM - have fun with the beast!
My 7970m is faulty to.. brand mark on the card.. must be exchanged.. but my reseller has no card in stock at the moment.. damn ;/ -
bummer, wish u all the best buddy! that u may enjoy that beastly card asap
-
-
Wish you all the best for the RMA and that your babe will be back soon after you sended it in
-
Just wanted to let everyone know i got my notebook back and its now working 100% correctly with the new GPU Installed, It says on the work order they replaced the VGA so im assuming it was indeed a malfunction in the card itself.
-
good stuff! glad to see you got it sorted
-
Nice! Now have Fun with the beast!
Just Installed 7970m on my 8150 (Not Working)
