Time to bite the bullet, I guess...
I just ordered my 5760. Here's what I'm getting:
* NP5760C
* 17" WUXGA
* Core Duo T2600 (upgrade from the T2500 was only $30... what the heck!)
* GeForce Go 7900 GTX w/ 256mb
* 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz.
* 100 GB hard drive, 7200 rpm
* 8X DVD burner
* Win XP Pro
* Spare AC adapter
* 2nd hard drive bracket kit.
Plus, of course, the various stuff that isn't configurable (integrated wireless, etc.).
Cost: $2,824.00 plus shipping of $71.30 (3-day). Total: $2,895.30.
I ordered directly from Sager. Brian Liaw, the sales manager, has been my contact.
I'm Canadian -- despite what their website says, they accepted a credit card as payment (site says only wire payments accepted from outside the US).
Brian tells me that the unit will ship tomorrow, so I should have it on Tuesday.
Looking forward to it!
Cheers,
Eugene.

Great to hear that you can be in Canada and they will accept your cards. That's a beast right there, congratulations.

How did you get the T2600 for only $30 more than the T2500? It's normally $130 more. Great deal!

WooT !
You caught a mistake on the Sager website
The upgrade to the T2600 should have been $190 not $90 ($130 more than the T2500 not $30 more!).
They found it after your order so you are good to go (they will honor your price)but the website has now been corrected.

Grats on the 5760
I am enjoying mine and testing it at this time.
Hmm, you sure you got the WUXGA+?
5670-V is suppose to have the WUXGA+ and 5760-C is the WSXGA+.
Also according to the Sager website, it does ONLY cost $30 more to go from T2500 to T2600 IF you took the 5760-C version.
Have a feeling someone messed up in their website because in the 5760-V page of theirs it is more than $30 from T2500 to T2600.
(Actual cost from T2500 to T2600 for the 5760-V is $130). -
Hi Kilim,
Yep, I got the WUXGA.
I went through the NP5760C side of the configuration tool -- it allows you to pick the display you want. I started there because I was waffling on which display to get and was looking at the price difference (+$95 for the WUXGA). From there, I just continued configuring the laptop.
I presume there is no difference between the NP5760V and NP5760C other than the display???
I wish I could take credit for realizing they'd made a mistake on their website (regarding upgrading to the T2600), but I simply thought they'd dropped their price. Processor prices seem to go up and down like a yo-yo. I had been planning on a T2500. But like I said in my original msg, above, for just $30 more - what the heck! Seemed worth it. $130 more wouldn't have been worthwhile.
I was originally going to purchase a Dell 1705, but I just couldn't get comfortable with Dell's build quality.
I normally only buy Toshiba laptops, but they seem to be slipping in quality in recent years too. I bought one on a business trip to the UK last year and it is complete crap (overheats and shuts off all the time, among other problems... argh). My wife has been using that one -- now I have to buy her another one too. (My wallet is incredibly grateful that she isn't a gamer..!)
Cheers,
Eugene. -
Just looked at Sager's site again and they've adjusted the pricing on the T2600.
Wonder if they caught it themselves or if my posting here led to them upping the price? Sorry if I'm the guilty party! <g>
By the way, if anyone else is purchasing directly from Sager, Brian was excellent to deal with. I suggest contacting him directly.
I would have purchased from one of the resellers active on this forum, except, um, none of you would take my business. Nice to know that Canada ranks right up there with Turkmenistan when it comes to acceptance of credit cards! <g>
My thanks to everyone on the forums for their comments / feedback / advice, etc. Very helpful.

Correct teh only difference between the 5760-C and 5760-V is the Display and their default config.
I chose the WSXGA+ Screen and very happy with it so far.
The 5760 screen is bar none the best LCD Screen I have seen ANYWHERE.
Wonder if I can find a 40"+ TV of the same type somewhere ... would be sweet ... and expensive I bet.
EVer since I got my lappy back from SAger, I haven't really found any issues.
Tested most parts and only thing I do not have is an Express Card and microphone to test that feature.
So far, generally speaking, the 5760 is a good buy for me.
EVEREYONE hear at work says how Beautiful it is -
congrats Eugene on the order! Thats a very nice setup and im sure you gonna love it... mine has been stunning so far in every way.

Plus $71.30 USD fed-ex shipping (3 day wait) to make $2,895.30 USD TOTAL?
No other fees for sending across the boarder what-so-ever, after that, it comes to your door, goes into your hands no more paying fees or anything at all? -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
That would be nice...but any applicable GST and PST will have to be paid in addition to that.
-
I was able to ship it to an address in NY, rather than to my Canadian address. I'll head down on Tuesday to pick it up. Because I was shipping only within the US, I used the default UPS service.
Cheers,
Eugene. -
Ahh, why not ship it to your home via fed-ex? Didnt you come to the conclusion through fed-ex you can avoid fees?
-
anyone order a 5760 from powernotebooks.com? I was wondering how long it takes before it ships... I ordered mine last Sunday, 6/11... got confirmation emails the same day and confirmation payment was received Monday (even got a call from Ron on Monday to make sure it was all G)... anyway, haven't heard anything since, and Ron said it might ship as early as Wednesday, 6/14. Since I live in Hawaii, I had to get 2 day shipping... sigh, man I want it to get here *so* bad
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
I apologize if Ron has not given you an update
, but Sager has been sold out of the WSXGA+ screen and didn't get their shipment this week as expected. They are expected by Tuesday of next week (but until they arrive we won't know for sure), so with luck it will ship on Wednesday for arrival next Friday.
I will pound on Ron for not updating you...we are usually real good about that. -
ahh, *sigh* thanks for the update. man, sager shoulda upgraded me to wuxga+ for free! hehe, 1 more week, I think I can make it. and you have my permission to tell Ron he has been a very bad boy

Thanks for the good humor about it

I talked to Mathew T on the phone when i placed my order. Nice guy, altho when I had called for him before, i spoke with stacy... shes got a pretty voice.. almost made my order with her instead because of that...lol but i held out for a phone call back from Mathew T.
We ran threw the formalitys of gathering info about me... We ran threw the order of what i wanted.
We started me declining the pixel guaranty. I declined due to the fact I own a 8790 and didnt have a problem there, and so far from any forums people havnt had too many problems, and 200 is too much for just 30 days worth of "warranty" on this. Maybe if it was for the 1st year... but not 30 days.
After posting the question of "Is waiting for the core duo T2700 worth the wait/cost" the answer from everyone was NO, so i got the T2500.
Went with the nVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX w/512MB because i was told via the forum that the FX 2500M was more geared to CAD stuff than gaming.
Went with 2gigs ram, cause im cash money yo!.. and I like BF2 and FEAR.
100gig HD, cause space is good...
2nd Hard Drive Bay Bracket. I have a 8790 with two 60gig 7200rpm HD's , so i will be taking one out to put in the 5760... I also have 2 external HD's one 120 gig western digital, and one 250 gig western digital... im good for space
Added bluetooth
Built-in Analog TV-Tuner Mini-PCI Interface. Wanted to have tivo like system, to record tv shows.
Microsoft Windows XP-Media Center Edition 2005. Like i said earlyer, I want to use it as a tivo like unit when not playin games..
We got down to the warranty. I really wanted a 3 year onsite threw discountlaptops but they only offer an additional year of coverage. He said they did offer the sagers 3 year warranty, but that didnt include the ADP warranty. The ADP was somthing i really wanted since i travel alot for my job, It could break from normal travel stuff... So went with the 1 year extra warranty, and 2 years ADP.
Paid 2day airmail, but wont get it in 2days. More like 3-5days. Everything takes forever to get here in alaska. There is no "next day" air available..
Its like i know christmas is coming but its only the 18th!!! I was told my laptop wouldnt get shipped untill July 12th so tack on 4 buisness days and I might get it on the july 18th...
Mathew T said that he would call my credit card companys to make sure he could ship to my address thats here in Ketchikan alaska.... since im working away from home and my billing and shipping address is diffrent at this time.
Thats all i have for now. Thanks for everyones help and info with making my sager 5760 purchase =)

Oh I see,
Have you guys received your shipment from Sager for the California residents, and do you ship them out the same day you receive them? -

Yes, we ship them the same day we receive them.
The forum is not a proper venue for shipping confirmations. Please email or call your sales advisor for your current order status.
