I think one of the contributors of the heat in the right side of the M860TU is the Intel 5300 Wifi Link when it is operating in N mode. I noticed this when I'm connected to my N router, the right side of the laptop and the HDD temps are increasing as opposed to when I'm connected to a G router only.

    Could this be the problem?

If so, can I move the Wifi Link module to another mini-PCIE slot in the laptop? Can it be moved to the HSDPA module slot? Since I don't have the HSDPA module installed in my laptop anyway.

If you want to move the card, you are going to have to reroute the cables from the card to the antennas to the other slot (if it is possible).

What do you exactly mean? Can't I just move it together with the antenna cables?

Yeah. Thats what I meant; if you move the card you will have to move/reroute the cables as well.

I think you are correct, I recently installed the 5350 WiMAX/Wifi card, and I've noticed the palm rest gets quite hot sometimes when it's enabled.

I haven't been able to use the WiMAX, there must not be any in my area. Also, WiMAX and Wifi can't be used simultaneously.

So far it's useless (the WiMAX part). I only purchased it since I found it at a price close to the 5300 module's.

You know. You might be onto something there. I recently placed my wireless card battery settings on 'Maximum power savings' and my right palm rest has not been as hot as it normally used to be without a cooler.

I have my wireless card turned disabled (Fn+F11) since I use an ethernet cable at home and my hard drive is still at the same temperature than when I'm on a G-network. So maybe the wireless N changes something, but the card itself is not the problem... Would make sense since I believe the 802.11n runs at higher frequency etc.

So is it possible to move the Wifi card to the 3g module slot?

Sounds like a good theory and likely contributes to the heat. I've had my wifi card turned off (device manager) when I don't use it (usually don't use it) and have been running cooler overall (43C idling); also have my bluetooth (probably a good idea to disable unless you need it) and webcam disabled in device manager as well.
