It seems years since i last typed here in NBR, and here i am again, after 3 years from buying my first laptop from Dell, now looking forward to a new experience with Sager Notebooks!

    Here are some specs:

    nVIDIA GeForce GTX 485M 256bit w/2.0GB GDDR5
    Intel® Core™ i7-2820QM (2.3~3.4GHz, 45W) w/8M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads
IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
    8GB (2x4GB SODIMMS) DDR3/1333 Dual Channel Memory
500GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive - Seagate XT NCQ Hybrid w/4GB SSD
    6x Blu-Ray Burner/Reader/8x Super Multi Combo Drive
7-in-1 Memory Card Reader (All versions of MS + SD/MMC)
    Built-in Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1102 - Ultimate Gaming Card

Everything else is pretty much the same to any other np8150 :)

As im Moving from an sxps 1640, im a bit worried about a couple of things,

1- The 3 year labor Warranty, which i've heard is troublesome. ( do you really get 3 years of warranty covering your components... FREE??)

2- The seize and weight difference between the sager and my current Dell, anyone knows if they are pretty much the same? because sxps is scratching the line for me in terms of seize. ( yes i know its 16 inch vs 15 inch but my dell is smaller than a 15.6 inch ASUS ROG, so i dont really know what to think )

Overall im left cold by the price of this thing, its so much better than any alienware or Dell i could ever have ordered at the same cost.

    1. It means they will fix your laptop for free. It doesnt say anything about covering components.

Thanks! im not really worried about the time it takes, they say 7-9 days for it to ship, and that's really just perfect considering my dell took 20 days to ship!!

And im not even in the address it was shipped to, so i'll probably have to wait a month before i can get to it *sob* i want my new computer so bad but i just don't want to have to let go of my Sxps, i have grown rather attached to it...

This unit weighs about 6.8 lbs with the battery pack, so I'm not sure how that is compared to your Dell. Sager models have a simple design and they tend to be a bit more compact than the ASUS G series. Looks like a great setup though! You're going to enjoy that machine quite a bit.

By your signature i assume you had some problems with your screen, i really hope i dont have that kind of problem out of the box because i live in Mexico, where there is no warranty coverage by Sager :p

Awesome man!! I just cant wait for mine to arrive!
Any downsides or annoyances I should know about?

Well I have yet to notice anything wrong with mine. I am sure you have read about the occasional freeze some folk are getting but mine seems to be fine. No freezes on the new models iirc (I have one of the old ones, before the SB recall).

It runs everything I throw at it at native res, you will definitely enjoy your purchase :D

I think I'm gonna order pretty much the same specs, but I'm not gonna shell out the extra $190 to get .1 better cpu, I'm gonna go with the 2720.

Thanks for the heads up! yeah i did hear of that, just hope the new models don't come with any other sort of "brain fart" lol

im with you 100% man, im just a stupid spender when it comes to my laptops.. i wanted to make it worth all the trouble so i spent everything i was able to afford on it, just for future-proofness.

Let me know who you order it from, i ordered from and they were really helpful!! ( since they dont accept international credit cards i had to wire transfer the money, they informed me the moment they got the deposit and sent the order to Sager, everything went as smooth as butter!) you actually get to know the person attending you and they all have profiles here in NBR! Not to mention i requested if they could throw in a Zalman nc3000 because of my cash discount left me on green numbers and their response was "No problem at all, i will order it immediately"

Bad buy IMO 6970 + 4 gig of ram you can buy more cheaper from other Internet sites kingston is on a good deal atm everywhere.

Looks like you went with the I7 2720 or something like that the 2630QM can clock around the same with the same performance.

    .............................

Great machine but terrible choice apologies.

    Mine

    I7 2630QM OC
16 GIG RAM KINGSTON HYPER X
    AMD 6970 OC +
500 GIG HDD + 64 GIG SSD DRIVE

    And i quote myself:
I like my computer to come in ready to use, without having to order separate pieces. Thats the reason i went for the 8 gigs of RAM included.

And i've tried ATi and Nvidia and since ATi still has poor mobile driver support ( and IMO modded desktop drivers i have used are pretty lame ) I went for Nvidia because their drivers are much better for mobile platforms.

i know the CPU was a bit of a waste, but i don't like overclocking my CPU... on the long run it has caused a lot of issues on my previous machines.

I'm finding all of the websites to be within around $50 of eachother... Malibal has been the cheapest (all same exact config).
