Just received a weird purchase confirmation email from sager...seems like it was typed by someone who doesn't know english well but I was cited as the head manager of Sager notebooks...anyone else experience something like this?
phrases like this
s this charge card a Cr ed it or a Debit Checking Account card? If you are using a Debit Checking card, please advise your bank to increase the daily limit charge to cover this transaction, so that we can get the full payment in one transaction.
....
We are sch ed ule to have this one ready and ship
typed exactly the way you see it and sent at 1230 am
just figured this was weird seeing as how this was from a respected site...

yeah if I were you I would contact customer support to get something more professional and official...

sounds like a fake email (or no grammar check)...... LOL.
is the email, IP, origin really from Sager?
thats just funny. -
Strange but I understand so maybe the person was touchy with space bar? I would of thought a form email? To avoid this?
I disagree with above concern unless they asked information. If you ordered from Sager and they only asked you to increase/inform bank of transaction it is legit. -

I've never seen a spammer pretend to be Sager. In any case, get more info from them.
-
My order confirmation emails were like that too. It's not fake. They are based in Taiwan, and their employees don't speak English as a first language. I actually spoke on the phone with that guy a few times. (Brian something, right?) Don't worry about it...they're just not super with English. It does come off as slightly less professional, I'll admit...but all my dealings with them are slightly engrish...and my dealings with them have been very positive.
-
Eh? I thought Sager was based in California...Clevo is Taiwanese, however.
Maybe he was just high, cut 'em some slack. -
yea they asked me if the billing address was the same as the shipping and if it was credit or debit....it was referenced as sales manager and the email @sagernotebook.com Just would have thought a respected company wouldn't have a non english speaking sales manager.... no other personal info was asked. It was linked with my order number as well as the comp specs I ordered. So seems legit but now i'm not so sure.

Nonetheless, it can't hurt to call them up tomorrow just to confirm what the email said - that's just a prudent business practice, so if the email's legit they shouldn't get bent out of shape over it.
On the other hand, while it might not happen often, it is possible that someone might have stolen the card information from Sager and may be asking the OP to get the bank to lift the daily limit so that the account can be pilfered - that's precisely why most banks impose that daily limit in the first place. If that's what's going on, then a call to Sager will assuredly make that clear because Sager won't have any record of having sent the email to you. -

Wow um... I don't think I would cut any sales manager some slack if they were dealing with customers high... maybe its just me but they would be fired on the spot! -
I replied saying the card was debit and that the shipping/billing info was the same...now you're scaring me do I have anything to worry about as far as the card goes?
-
isn't sager CO are from taiwan? this doesn't look fake because didn't ask u to do something like give me ur card number. btw u don't have to know English to get into the Harvard or Yale.

touche.

Well, you are brave. I would never ever use a debit for a internet purchase. Even from a reputable company. I always use a real credit card. Reason is, if for some reason someone did get your number illegally, they could drain real money from YOUR account. And getting it back is a pain. And while you are trying to get your money back, your account is still DRAINED. With a real credit card, its still a pain, but your not missing your real money. Just dealing with electronic money (so to speak).
-
I was joking about the email.
Sager is a highly reputable company... I would not worry. -
To OP relax all is cool. This is not how scams are done. I won't mention names but I suspect some posters who give concern would click an unknown exe and wonder why they develop issues?
I think self protection is very important. I feel many times it is greatly misplaced.
My previous example says enough. I do my banking online. I went over ten years with out any anti virus or other. No problem. Why? Because my brother who knew about computers told me when I first started. Do not install stuff, never click an exe.? Online don't know who it is.
Tell your bank there will be a big charge from a certain company. Not Joe blow electronics.
If I seem frustrated it is because I am. People who get scammed, get a virus or other including stolen credit card numbers have done proactive action. Nothing more, this and no others are magic ferry dust. You all ultimately did it to yourself.
Be smart! And don't be paranoid. -
My mistake. It is Clevo that is in Taiwan. In any case, Sager employees also seem to not speak English as their native language. No harm done.

A family member of yours recently died with his family. I am a barrister you are the sole heir. Your family member was worth 26 million. I will only charge 60% to help you recover. If you do not take action the government will take it. -
ha ha, i do th at to o some ti mes

same sort of email i received from alienware. being in the uk my bank stopped the transaction just in case it was fraudulent. its a pain but better be safe than sorry.
you will need to contact your bank just to inform them that a large payment is about to happen, they will then not block it. -
Why are you mocking me dude? All I'm saying is that I got similar emails from Sager, and they were legit. I even spoke personally on the phone with the person who wrote them. I'm trying to reassure this person that he has nothing to worry about. Your guess is as good as mine as to why their emails lack professionalism, but I can tell you that they are from Sager.

The night shift personnel must be someone who isn't great in English.
But if things can work out then it's fine. -
I think that most of Sager's staff are Taiwanese as well - I seem to recall a poster about a month ago who stopped by their facility in CA mentioning that they were all Taiwanese.

Considering Sager is based in City of Industry, CA, I can assure you most are Taiwanese immigrants. I live right there and all the tech companies based there are Taiwanese.

Exactly...
English is their second language, and in that case they can usually speak it better than they can write it.
This is the USA. There are accents of all kinds here and we should be tolerant of those who are not proficient in the language...at least THEY are making a good faith effort to learn it...unlike some who refuse to do so.
I also see many posts here from people whose first and only language is English...and it is pretty poor, so I think we need to be a little careful about criticizing anyone's language skills.
Keep in mind that the entire laptop industry originates in Asia. There is not one single US company that is an Original Design Manufacturer of laptop computers. They are all in Asia, with most of the headquarters and R&D in Taiwan with the factories in China.
If this bothers you...I would recommend working with a US reseller instead of directly with Sager. -
My English is amazing. Although I'm surprised Sager is so minority-dominated. Still, going back to the initial topic, I don't think the spacing errors were a result or indicator of the author's language proficiency. Actually looks a lot like some kind of lag, causing the spaces to be mis-registered.
It happens to me in Gmail sometimes. Spaces end up all over the place because the whole thing just lags up. -

In Southern California, Asian is NOT a minority
-
I thought Hispanic was the majority in SoCal and Asians congregated in the Bay Area.
-
Funny how your very next sentence has a flaw. You should either put a comma after the "although", or change the period after "amazing" to a comma. As it stands right now, it just looks like a fragment; a subordinate clause without a complete sentence to modify.

So true. I live in Walnut (which borders City of Industry) and it's over 60% Asian -
i live in san francisco... When u walk out the street 99% are asian ( China Town ) btw which laptop did u order from sager ?D
-
I would have to agree I have called them on a couple of questions and everyone there seems to talk with an accent... They are located in the city of Industry, CA. Actually about 3-4 miles where I live it. Newegg is actually in the same City along with many computer warehouses.
Just got a reallly weird email from Sager...
