Theres a million pictures around here so I dont think there is any need to post those. However, I would like to discuss what I see so far. What I really like about this system is how fast it actually is. It zips around without any problem. I have installed everything I wanted to and was able to multitask at the same time. I love it. The keyboard is comfortable and the brightness is satisfactory in every situation I have been in so far. The design is just beautiful. It looks really well made. It is a little bulky and a little heavy but the power makes up for it. I could go on and on about the wonderful aspects of this computer.
However, I have seen a few things that are troubling me. One is that sometimes when I startup the computer, the wireless network doesnt connect. I am forced to either disable it and connect again or just repair it. Its a pain in the butt. Also, sitting here idle, vista takes up 1gb of memory. I'm glad I went for 4gb. Also, when I was installing Microsoft Office, the cpu usage would spike at 26%. That also seems a little high for me. I mean, its not like I am encoding a movie or rendering an animation.

yea its 1 9800m gt. Good enough for me :). Its kinda weird getting it out of sleep mode though. If I hold down power, sometimes it will just sit there until I hold down power again and then hold it again until the screen turns on. Very odd. That may have confused you all, but its exactly what I have to do.

I probably wont post pics until sometime later. I want to get it during the daytime. And the more I use the laptop, the less I notice its size. Its just comfortable for me. I will try and post pics that help put its size in perspective. And battery life isnt THAT bad. I have had this thing running on battery since 12:00 and its at 77% now (12:28). Thats about .8% per minute. I still have the backlight all the way up and havent done anything undervolting yet. Granted, I am only surfing the web, but at this rate it should last about 125 minutes. Much better than I thought it would do based on past reviews.

So I have heard that your not supposed to use this notebook on your lap. Is there any adverse effects of using it on your lap?

Congrats on the new rig. :)

It might be the channel of the wireless router/AP that can cause this... as well as some protocols under the Wireless Network Connection's Settings.

You should see if it has the same issue on other hotspots.

If so, then I would re-install the drivers and use the Intel Wireless utility rather than using the Windows.. or vice versa.

As long as you are careful about where you position it on your legs so you do not block airflow into the intakes and cause it to overheat, you will be ok.

No problems in sleep mode for me or with the wireless net work.
I think you just have to press the power button for more than 1-2 seconds to get it fully powered.
The only problem I have is trying to play Gears of War, got it installed but cuts out on me right before it starts,(right after one of the guys turns around in his cell in the opening scene)***!
For some reason it never asked for the product key or to register it, any body know what's going on?
The funny part is I am able to play CRYSIS with NO problems, but GOW just never starts I can't figure whats going on.
I says "GOW has stopped working".I think I have the minimum requirements to play this game.(check specs).
This is starting to **** me off!
    Any help guys?

Gears of War has some issues since it was not originally made for the PC, rather it was ported to the PC from X-BOX 360.

I think this is the fix:

If you have XP/Vista 32 bit:
    Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32
    And delete the files:
    d3d10.dll , d3dx10_33.dll , d3dx10d_33.dll , Nucleus.dll , d3dx10.dll , d3dx10d.dll , dxgi.dll

    If you're on XP/Vista 64 bit:
    Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64

Delete the same files above in red.

    Hope this helps!

.... or go to C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Games and deleted the whole gears of war folder and run the game.

I am going to post pics at some point during today. I cant seem to find the intel wireless utility though :(. Its probably right in front of my face and I am just missing it. I think it may have been my power settings. I have it set to power saver. I switched the wireless settings and it didnt do it this time when I started up. I am still kinda concerned by the memory usage and cpu usage though.

Why not just let Windows take care of managing the Wireless Config. for u?...instead on Intel! So r u saying that u cannot connect Wirelessly?

.Vista is a resource hog..something to get used to!

And tks for the pics...I especially like THIS one. So sexy!

Mine will be lower than yours. I am going to post all the screenshots after I do 3dmark06 and 3dmark vantage. Have you tried vantage also? I dont know how to let windows do it instead of intel :(. I am embarassed to say that but its true. I cant tell which one is in control.

Any even easier way and also to avoid even installing the intel control for the wifi is go into control panel/add remove programs/ remove the intel pro set wireless software . Insert your driver cd click optional/wifi and install. When it ask you what you want to install, make sure only the driver is selected, nothing else. Install and your done, vista will be the only program controlling the wifi.

Just finished downloading Fraps,Riva Tuner and HW monitor, now every time I play a game there is a green bar on the left side of my screen bouncing up and down, it says SLI so i'm guessing it measures the GPU's in SLI.
Any way, any body know how to disable it, it's starting to **** me off and I know it's not coming from Fraps because I disabled it, any Ideas guys?

real easy. go into the nvidia control panel and select 3D settings. this will enable another tab called 3D settings next to the View tab on top. click on that to disable the sli visual indicators.

Hmmm, so today I went to defrag my drive since I installed a ton of stuff and O&O showed me as having 17% fragmentation. I ran it and it came out to 27% fragmentation. No matter what option I choose it stays at 27%. Perfectdisk shows like .2%. Whats the deal with o&o?

I wouldnt say its a waste.

If you do not game that much, paying an extra $400 might not be worth it.

Or you can wait for a faster card coming up and get that in SLI. :)

Well, I was looking more for processing power than I was for graphics. I don't game that often so it really wasnt worth the extra money to upgrade the gpu.

From what I understand. defragging increases the life span of your hdd and how well it performs. I have never really noticed a big difference after defragging, but I was always told to do so and it has become a habit for me. This is the first time I have had a problem with o&o (showing 27% even after it has defragged my drive definitely should be considered a problem) but I would recommend it. Right now I switched over to jkdefrag because its free and it actually works on my laptops hdd.

defrags do not show significant performance... it mainly helps stability for games and large programs.

if you want to increase HDD performance, disable HDD resource hogs (Drive Indexing and System Restore are dumb).

Ok, are there anymore performance tweaks you would recommend? I know this isnt a performance tweak, but I tried using rmclock to increase battery life and I was too scared to go through with it :(. I guess I just dont want to mess something up and have my computer blow up lol.
