Hello everyone. I've finally gotten my NP5790, and it looks great. But now I have to get everything I need installed on it. I ordered mine without any operating system on it, since I have my own CD. Two things I noticed are when I opened the CD drive, there was already an orange Drivers / Utility CD inside, but I took it out, and swapped it with my Windows CD, and when I booted the laptop up for the first time, I had my Windows CD in the drive, but it took me into Ubuntu which I have never used before in my life. I tried to go into the settings at the start up hitting F2, and changing the boot sequence to boot from the CD first, but it still takes me to the Ubunto.

If someone could help me get up and running, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Strange.... if the boot sequence has the CD first, then it should boot off of that drive.

I would recommend to disable the other devices in the Boot Sequence other than the optical drive... then your system will be forced to boot off of the CD/DVD drive

I excluded everything but my IDE CD which I'm pretty sure is it, but now I'm getting "No operating system found." :( Perhaps it doesn't like my CD.

I see. Well try another backup CD/DVD. I have had that issue before where backup's do not boot up on certain drives.

Backup CD's are not illegal since they do not have CD-Key's embedded into them, so which version of XP are you trying to install?
    - XP Home OEM or Retail?
    - XP Pro OEM or Retail?

It was XP Professional. He was nice enough to let me use his Microsoft account and walked me through downloading a bootable ISO, so I'm good to go now. :)
