They replaced the dead pixel I had on my screen so now I'm just testing everything out. I don't know how they got past my windows 7 password because my computer had a password on there but now its gone.

My laptop is the Lotus P151HM1 560 card in it

I need help on the 3Dmark scores when I first got my laptop 3 weeks ago I scored average 2089 but I just tested it again right now and I scored 530. What is with the big decline? Can someone help me out.

You check to make sure you're on high performance mode? And plugged in of course..

Are you plugged in and have the power settings set to max performance (as well as the power conservation mode, via the taskbar)? Power saver is the most common culprit for low scores.

No I'm not plugged in. How do I set the power setting to max?

You can't get full performance on battery, but you can still right click on the battery icon and choose high performance. Do the same on the laptop icon on your taskbar > power conservation modes > high performance. The GPU and CPU will still heavily downclock on battery though, so you'll only get good 3DMark scores when you're on AC. The battery cannot support the voltage needed to run both at full speeds.

Ok looking good so far I got 2249 on the score, but I shouldn't leave it on full performance when just using my laptop keeping it on balanced is what you guys have?

on battery = balanced to get more time with it, but also means no gaming.
plugged in = full performance mode so no downclocking :D

another question, why is that other laptop icon there aswell as the normal windows 7 power plan options? I would prefer to just use the windows power plans instead of having to change both of them each time

The icon is installed with the hotkeys. It ties directly in to the bios to control power settings, so it actually overrides Windows power settings. I'm not sure if uninstalling or disabling this program makes any difference though. I believe if you set the power conservation modes to balanced or high performance, Windows can have full control of all of the same options. The only time you'll run into problems is if you left power conservation modes set to energy star, because it will artificially limit performance.

They probably used their own cracking tool or maybe Offline NT Password & Registry Editor (I know I use it :D) or maybe Ophcrack, it's commonly used.

Regarding your 3DMark score, I would assume it's that you don't have it plugged in = downclock, as stated above me.

you don't need to install bios when you reformat. put the disc in and restart the computer, when you get to the hard drive selection screen make sure you click on the hard drive, press options and choose format so it erases all the data

If you ordered the machine with Windows, you shouldn't have needed the driver disk. However, if you're reinstalling Windows you'll need it. Or you can use the Clevo Driver thread below to get all the new drivers to supplement them:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/573379-clevo-driver-thread.html

To reinstall, you don't need to worry about the bios. Just put the Windows 7 disk in and boot from it.

Sounds good thanks. So here is just a run down of what I'm about to do if someone can just double check my first time doing this.

    1. put windows 7 cd in
    2. reboot laptop
    3. format the harddrive
    4. log in windows 7 make account
    5. install drivers from disc or site you gave me
    6. install graphics card driver from webpage
    7 profit???

Anything I'm missing or should do?

Not quite. It should go like:

    1. Put Windows 7 disk in
    2. Press F7 at boot to choose to boot from the disk. It will load up and give you the option to continue. Just follow the prompts and tell it to use the hard drive (which it will format)
    3. Windows will automatically load when installation is complete
    4. Install the newest drivers from that Driver thread
    5. Get the rest of the drivers off the disk
    6. Run Windows update and install the rest of your software

What is the recommended order of installation for the drivers for these machines? The Drivers thread should be updated to include it (if there is one that is)..

No order really... just install the drivers from top to bottom of the list

Install the Chipset drivers first, the rest don't matter.

Unless you ordered the calibration when you purchased it, it won't come calibrated. You have two options if you want to do it yourself:

    1) Do it by eye using the color controls in the Nvidia/AMD control panel.
    2) Buy/borrow a color calibration unit like a Spyder Pro that will automatically do it for you and give you a profile to use. This is the best method because it guarantees that your colors are displaying accurately.

Ok now I have a new question :) When I play or use my computer to play games should the battery be plugged in? I haven't even tried yet if you can turn the computer on without the battery and just have it plugged in. But is there anytime you shouldn't have the battery plugged in? When you guys play games do you take the battery out and just have the laptop plugged in?

There's no reason to leave the battery plugged in if you plan to always use it on AC power. There's lots of conflicting advice out there on battery life, but I leave mine in 24/7 whether I'm on AC or not. So it's up to you, really.
