Since I already had an order from PCMW, decided to not opt for their "9800gtx" which I know would kill this 15.4' laptop and got them to put in the 9800gt instead. Here's my config - got them to price beat the system from XotiC:

    P9500
    320GB 7200
    1050 Rez Screen
    2GB ddr3 1 dimm
    9800GT
    Bluetooth
    DVDRW
    Laptop Bag
    5 Yrs lowjack

$1780 Shipping included. Not a horrible price I think.

Yeah I did. I paid via credit card so if they do not ship me the product I can contest the charges no problem. Got that protection at least. And as long as the unit comes ok and everything is great I won't contest it. I don't really know what those peeps that paid through cash are doing though to be protected. Always good to keep the guard up imop. But people here have had great experiences with this company so I just hope to keep it that way. As long as it works I shouldn't have any problems with the system and should have no need for their less than quality service.

I'll post up my config and prices once I hear back from PCMW, they're still comparing quotes and confirming parts for me at this moment. I want the SSD :D

I know - they say they won't match it because the service of PCMW isn't as good as theirs. Which is true - but I do hope their service will be at least ok. Other uses have only good things to say about their service who have bought from PCMW thus far.

why not? do they not match sale prices? i wont really need service since im moving out of country, theres no sense mailing a laptop $100 each way.

They do - refer to my above post. I don't think service alone is a reason not to price match but that's the way it is. I would like nothing more than to order from xotic or powernotebooks because they've helped us out so much but if they won't price match similarly configured systems then that's their perogative. See the issue is also if they do it for one they have to do it for everyone - from a business standpoing that doesn't work out so well.

Lol I did. I pm'd Justin and he said the service wasn't the same so he won't price match it. I made sure to ask before I posted that he would not price match it.

No matter the reseller you get it from you should have 1 year of protection/service from Clevo itself right? Or is this a blind 'assumption'?

It's a blind one. I think that Clevo will not honor any warranty service for an end-user.

Thank you for posting DRTH_STi because, as I've been trying to say all along, the best use of the information I've highlighted is to help a buyer make an informed decision, not to stop people from buying in the first place, and you are a good example of a customer who, having taken the available facts into account, has done a cost/benefit analysis (even if only by reflection and not Excel :D ), weighed the result against your appetite for risk, and, most importantly, taken prudent steps to protect yourself against catastrophic risk.

If I recall correctly, I think that you made your pre-order by credit card before any of the shenanigans started up, so I am not going to try and take any credit whatsoever for your decision - it was all yours and I think that you have displayed a very keen business judgment that will stand you in good stead for so long as you are willing to listen to it.

DRTH... More power to you... you bought from PCMW, a company thats been getting bashed lately. AND you protected yourself. AND you got a better price than the other major retailers. THats exactly wat happened to me last year this time. And not for the nothing, I got better service from PCMW than with xoticpc. I tried calling both when buying my computer. PCMW bargained with me and got the price down. Xoticpc left me on hold and wouldnt budge for any discount other than a little bit off for student. :-/. Plus pcmw has given me any broken parts no hassle, no problem. I don't see how xoticpc's service can be "better" than that? no offense xotic... luv you justin :D

Is it that the fine print of PCMW's and XoticPC's warranties is substantially different? What was Justin able to point at to say "the service is not the same"?

thats basically wat i was getting at. Service is subjective. No company can have the exact same service, So any company can argue we'll only price match if everything is the same, including service. But if nobody has the same service, you can't price match with any1!!... so price match now just looks like a nice ad to bring people in. And PCMW is the only company that will bargain lower than the xoticpc/powernotebook/sager trio... and so they prolly all price match to each other... even tho they have the same prices >_< Ahhh its circular

Thanks dude - honestly feels like an uphill fight against everyone.

I'll definately review my machine from PCMW so everyone can see what I got - what condition it was in - and the price I got it for. Honestly, aside from this GPU/CPU ordeal and NDA stuff, every time I called them they were uber nice. I mean - I called them today to tell them about the price diff between xoticpc and theirs and all it took was 2 minutes for them to go over the config with me and BEAT justin's price by $300!

About service - Doodles, you're so right. I'm not gonna comment anymore on that out of respect for Justin and Donald - but out of fairness, I have not asked Donald to price match - only Justin - but I know I would get the same answer.

Real funny you say that bro because everybody always said, including the resellers, that PCMW's prices are way over inflated and don't trust them. So if $1780 is an inflated price for the config in my sig than give me a better price! Oh, no, what, you can't? oh well...

by "inflated price", they meant w/o the discounts like PCMW gave on July 4th. Wait for Justin or Donald to drop it if you don't believe so.

Nirvana - I've got nothing against you - you're a cool dude bro but listen. There's really no point of a price match policy if it won't match prices. You can have excetion after exception after exception and after a while it takes the umph out of the policy. All i know is that after 2 minutes on the phone with PCMW I told them they were 500 bucks more expensive than XotiC, and you know what they did? BAM! Beat Xotic by 300. That's price matching!

On the warranty point - there's no way to tell because PCMW does not have the actual terms of its warranty(-ies) posted on its website, at least not the publicly available portion of the website. The tab on the homepage titled "Warranties" leads to a page that merely describes certain aspects of their 3-year warranty, but doesn't provide any of the actual operative language.

If any PCMW buyer received an actual written warranty with their purchase and cares to share it with the rest of us, I for one would be interested in reading it.
