Ugh... I just ordered W870CU which is Guru Storm i7 on NotebookGuru.de .
I hope they will send me a laptop, not a pack of bricks...

    - Intel Core i7-720QM 1,6-2,8 GHz 6 MB Level3 Cache
    - 4096 MB DDR3 1333 MHz
    - 17,3 inch FullHD LED TFT 1920x1080 Pix Glare Type
    - NVIDIA GeForce GTX260M with 1024 MB GDDR3 RAM 256 Bit
    - BlueRay Reader 2x + DVD Burner 8x
    - 320 GB WD Blue Scorpio 5400 rpm
    etc.

I know that GTX260M is not best possible ;) but it is waaay better than my current 8600M GT. And I plan to swap it for 5870 or for something better later. :) The same goes for HDDs and CPU and adding next 4GB of RAM. All that can wait two years.

Anyway, lots of waiting ahead of me. :D

With that fullHD resolution, I wouldn't recommend the GTX 260M to be honest, I would have gone with the GTX 285M instead. Also a refresh of the W870CU with the new Nvidia GTX 480M is imminent. The ATI 5870 isn't much more expensive than the GTX 260M and is cheaper than the GTX 285M and after the refresh, I bet the older model version will be a little cheaper.

If that was me, I would cancel the order and wait for a bit.

If you swap it for the ATI 5870 later, you will have to buy a new heatsink and there is the small potential of the heatsink contact issues too.

Sorry to put a bit of a buzz kill on this but I would want to know the same if it was me.

There is quite a difference with price of 5870 and 260M. + 330,00 EUR which I can't afford it right now.
If I can play Metro 2033, Crysis, Crysis Warhead on my current 8600M with satisfactory settings I can live with better GPU and Medium details and lower resolution in future games. No problem for me.
I'm quite happy with my current laptop, only I want HD resolution for movies and desktop work.
If I'll have to I'll buy new heatsink for 5870. :)

    IT HAS ARRIVED !

Though I'm still waiting for Windows 7 to be delivered I'm installing Ubuntu to see if it's working. :D

Congratulations on owning one of the best laptops you will ever own. You will love it! Great performance, great build quality.

It will play every game you throw at it although lately I have been spending more time with emulation than my recent Steam purchases.

Notebookguru.de is selling the MR 5870 for 100 euros more than the GTX 285M and 250 euros more than the GTX 260M?

    From their configuration page:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX260M with 1024 MB GDDR3 RAM 256 Bit
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX280M with 1024 MB GDDR3 RAM 256 Bit + 100,00 EUR
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX285M with 1024 MB GDDR3 RAM 256 Bit + 200,00 EUR
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 with 1024MB GDDR5 Memory and DirectX + 330,00 EUR
    Quite a difference.
I think Kobalt Computers with ATI 5870 may be cheaper...

    Hello everyone,

My name is Cristian, and I am from Romania.
I really need your advice related to buying a notebook from notebookguru.de

On Thursday (09.Feb.2011) I have received the Proforma (Invoice) and I payed money by bank transfer.
On Monday (14.Feb.2011) I send the guy from notebookguru.de an email to ask him about the money and how to track my package and he says that he didn't received the payment.
After this email I have sent him some other emails but he does not answer anymore.

Can someone tell me something, give me an advice?

    Thank you.
