Hi guys Ive Just ordered a XMG P724 with dual GTX 980's. I forgot to take a closer look at the screen refresh rate before clicking the buy button (silly me). Can anyone confirm whether this has a 120HZ screen as a 60HZ refresh would just be pointless on this setup.

    Thanks

It is an internal 1920x1080 60Hz Screen according to spec sheet.

It is 60Hz. If you want 120Hz you'll need to buy it aftermarket. The panel model is the LP173WF2-TPB1 for this notebook.

Yeah 120Hz is not available from any reseller here in the UK anymore so you'll have to get it and install it on your own..

This screen should work but you will need a new 3D screen cable(eDp cable) and 3D emitter... Make sure you confirm with seller that this is the screen they will send you before you buy it...

Im sorry for aksing such noob-like questions, but do you have any specs on exactly which 3D screen cable is required and also a model number for the 3D emitter, apologies as I truly have no idea what either components look like .

That is the monitor I linked you in my post, yes.

You do not need the 3D emitter for this monitor to be installed. The 3D emitter is simply needed for the 3D vision glasses to work internally. Normal 3D vision glasses kits require an external emitter. Only the P370SM3 has the built-in 3D emitter. The screen will work at 120Hz easily without the 3D emitter once the 50 pin eDP connector is present, which it should be.

You mentioned " once the 50 pin eDP connector is present, which it should be" am I correct in assuming that the motherboard should have 2 monitor connectors available, one which is a 40 pin (for the stock screen) and an additional 50 pin connector ( for a screen that requires a 50 pin )

Am I also correct in assuming if the above is true then it should be a simple plug and play swap-over when I purchase the 120hz replacement screen + a 50 pin screen cable ( and maybe a bios tweak of some sort may be required )

    OR

Will there be a need for a 40 to 50 pin converter connector?

Just a thought: Will any of this hinder your warranty with your reseller?

The cable is difficult to source, indeed. Have you asked your reseller? Or even another? A third party seller from eBay might have it.

I completely didn't notice people asking for these.

The cable can be bought from Eurocom if you need it, if you cannot find it from another place.

Replacing the screen shouldn't kill warranty, unless in replacing it you break something else, in which case it's a "GG". I don't know how you do things Prostar.

We have a similar approach in that, while we advise against getting too involved with the guts (due to "risk"), the warranty may still be fine as long as nothing is accidentally damaged. After any accidental damage, that's it.

Just asked Eurocom. 575$ for the screen + cable. 125$ for the cable. (autocensured) piiiiii piiii pii piiiiiii pi piiiiii. The same (supposely) screen model at 75$ (65€ or so) in aliexpress. -.- ¬¬

This reminds me about the official technical service of UK which estimated me the change of an old 7970m at 450€ (550$?).

Where else do you say we can buy the cable?

I had done it this monday before contacting Eurocom, but not response yet. (I created a 2 members conversation, that is what I found). That private thread system is nice.

You will be able to buy it directly from the UK or German Clevo service centers, contact details can be found on this page:

    http://www.clevo.com.tw/clevo_contact.asp?lang=en

This is where all companies in Europe would source the part from so I would recommend checking with them :)
