June 22nd is the estimated date for first shipments. The WXGA models will be the first to arrive and the WSXGA right after. There will be limited quantities arriving of both that are undefined at this time. We will keep everyone updated as we move toward shipment.

No tax is always nice. :) I didn't have to pay any tax on my Sager either, but I did with my ThinkPad . . . try 6% of $2,007. :(

Anyways, congratulations! What kind of specifications did you get?

I got the T7300 WXGA model (which will hopefully allow it to ship earlier according to Justin's previous statement) with 1 gb of ram.

I am thinking about adding a 2gb memory module myself as soon as it arrives, I hope there is nothing "tricky" about adding memory with the IFL90.

Is a WSXGA+ at 1680x1050 on a 15.4 wide screen way too small? I think it is ok on a 19in wide screen lcd, but won't objects appear absurdly small on such a small screen? What are your guy's thoughts on this? The WXGA 1280x800 seems to small, but to get the 8600gt you need the larger res. Also, are there any laptops that have a 1440x800(?) with the 8600gt?

The Compal IFL90 (which is what the Sager NP2090 is based off of) is now being offered in a 1440x900 resolution.

Also you don't need to buy the higher res version to get the GT if you are buying a Sager NP2090.

Any word on if the 8600gt 512mb card that comes with this laptop has the gddr2 or gddr3. Granted I have no idea what this means, but I have heard it discussed before. Also, if it is gddr2, will that be significantly slower than gddr3? Thanks.

if by limited quantities, how long would it take to have more of them in stock if you don't preorder it now?

That is an impossible question to answer until an order is actually placed. We just can't know availability at some unknown time in the future.

When do you need it? When are you going to want to place your order?

Oh, I thought if you don't preorder it now, that when it ships in July you'd have to wait a while for the next shipment or w/e

I'll need it by August before I head out to college. I don't know when Im going to order it yet since my sister and parents want to buy it for me as a graduation gift. I'll try to order it ASAP though.

Once the production models start shipping they we come in about weekly, but during the summer there is huge demand because like you, everyone is going back to school and need them all at once.

Therefore the best advice is order as soon as you can, and at the time of your order your reseller should be able to give you an approximate ship date.

Certainly not single or double digits. Typically it is hundreds, and sometimes thousands once production is in full swing.

Is the WXGA really that bad?? Right now I am comfortably working on a 1024x768 screen on a desktop. How does WXGA compare to that? I saw some WXGA's at the store and they didn't seem all that poor. WSXGA+ seems really tiny to me as well. Which screen type would you guys personally advise? (for a tight budget especially). Would sort of huge benefits will the WSXGA+ have over the WXGA?

Is it possible to lower the screen res on a notebook? My desktop can be set anywhere from 800x600 to 1280x1024. I keep mine low because I can barely read anything above 1024x768.

1024x768 is the 4:3 Aspect Ratio equivalent to 1280x800 (WXGA) 16:10 widescreen, so if you are comfortable using 1024x768 you will be comfortable at 1280x800, but I would not recommend going any higher.

Does not really matter... usually its a generic brand with lifetime warranty.

I remember that Sager used to use Transcend a lot... all the same really.

My Sager NP5320 came with Transcend when I bought it over a year and a half ago; the NP9260 I tested came with Apacer.

I agree with Gophn, it doesn't matter. Sager does not put second-rate components in their machines so I think it is safe to leave it at that. ;)
