only decent Australian reseller i can find.. i know 1 guy on this forum that ordered from them before and got a doggy scrn on a NP5973... but i think ill be ok .. i hope
they are based in Perth ill do a full report on them for the Clevo guide section once every or any thing they takes place.
i will actual pick up the laptop from the store/location of the reseller so that will be interesting.. may get some snaps -
cong
hope that you ll enjoy your laptop

Gratz, whats your est dispatch date?
-
Cool, congrats on your system.
And by the way, I don't think you'd wanna put the R* sticker on if they don't release GTA IV for PC -
nice one Heathkidd, congrats on your purchase.
i will be next. -
From $2599.00...Isn't expensive for the M860TU?? It starts from $1,859.00 from Sager...
Other than that, the CPU is good for the price, 7200rpm hard drive, RAM is OK. Personally, I would get a 3year warranty but you shouldn't have any problems. M860TU FTW -
Australian pricing.,

yer my only question was if i should get 4gigs of DDR3 over 2... it was 200more for DDR3... basicaly i think in a year or so when i need some more performance ill replace my DDR2 with some really high quality DDR3.. with mad timings etc.. that i can research my self.
my main concern with this laptop atm is battery life.. i'm feeling confident about the heat after looking over the design.
as long as i can get 3hours net and 1 hours gaming ill be happy
and yes GTA4 is coming to PC lol lol lol.. i have it on 360 and love but the Esrb i think it was released info that its basically confirmed. The sticker is more due to my love for the game studio rather than any exclusive or what ever hehe -
Any one know what kind of Performance Diference i could expect from DDR2 to DDR3 ram...
humm only think im wondering about my purchase atm... because my CPU wouldnt require the higher speed ram would it... hence its pointless? .. just like putting DDR2 800 in for a cpu that will drop it to 677?
i do plan to try and overclock my Cpu as much as safe
OHHH NOES the m15x will have the 9800m GTX

Overclocking = more battery usage and more heat. If you can solve these problems, you can overclock.
Personally, Ive never heard about bottleneck because the RAM is clocked too high. There a slight, non-noticeable difference between DDR2 and DDR3 clocked at the same speed. But because DDR3 is clocked higher, you will observe better performances. -
humm yer... the CPU is 1066 thou and i only have 800ghz ram.. how ill that work?
not really clued up on it atm..
humm humm i think im going to wait on the DDR3 still thou i think u can get DDR3 1333 already -
Normally I'd think long and hard about going for the m15x with a 9800M GTX, but unless they announce a whole new chasis and cooling solution, I am just not going to be able to trust Alienware with my £££'s after the m15x debacle to-date.
They have used up far too much goodwill in my view.

Oh damn, did all M860TU buyers just get shafted by Alienware?
-
I thought the M860TU can only take DDR3 RAM ?
-
-
on noes! IT DIDNT HAPPEN! stupid alienware network
-
im really starting to angst about the battery life on this notebook
the Np5976 is only hitting 2hours with web and 3/7 scrn ... ohh dear ..
-
It also has the Quadro FX3600 now which is faster and more expensive than the 8800m GTX :confused2:
Anyways, after all horror-stories I heard from Alienware's chassis I doubt it is worth the price and you better stick with some kind of Clevo.
Obviously the single fan of the m860TU cannot offer the same cooling as an additional GPU cooler, the m15x has. Though I'd rather stick with a m860TU or m570TU than buying an Alienware. I'm adding that the axis of the Display from the m860TU looks robust nice and slick. I only wished the m570TU had this particular Design-feature...

I totally agree. I don't care about the little luminating skull or the backlight keyboard. That just says to everyone: Look a good an awesome laptop. Steal it!
-
cool, you finaly found an australian seller. good for you. Hope you enjoy. I hope we get a review too when you get it.

-
it is? why was people kinda iffy and suprised that the 860tu Only had one fan.
i hope your right helio =) -
yer it is spex... small fans wast most of there power in deadzones (middle part) etc... the clevo layout could work quite well from my guess.. im a 3rd year architect student so my opinion must be good lolol3.
UPDATE: DDR2 changed to DDR3 on my resellers website
http://www.p4laptops.com.au/order-m860gt.htm
it seems like my resellers may have made a mistake of offering DDR2 with this laptop and now only list DDR3 1066 as a option.. soooo fingers crossed they give me a free upgrade and don't give me it with DDR2 and not working lol. -
im actually quite surprised at how many sellers have done those little typo mistakes when they are SOOOOOOOO important. its practicly a different machine with these little mixups.

1- No 9800GTX as been offered on the M15x (at least not yet... and I honestly think it won't be able to cope). The dual fan system on the M15x is, in my opinion, a total disaster in dealing with the heat generated by CPU and GPU.
Saying that the "dual cooling solution" in the M15x is good, just shows a complete lack of knowing what happened.
2- The Quadro is not more powerful than the 8800GTX... Is designed for applications like Cad and other work applications. It's less powerful for gaming.
Talking what you think is good... but at least it's good to be a bit more informed!
The only thing that worries me with the 1 fan solution is that, imagine you use a very CPU demanding task (like movie compression, or music encoding or any other algorithm like that...), then the fan will go on at full blast, making lots of noise. It would obviously be good to hape separete cooling sources for CPU and GPU... but let's wait and see how it all works.
Just ordered my860tu !_!
