So I haven't been on this site since the summer of 2006 when I bought an Asus S96j. I bought the Sager NP5791 after reading about it around here and lurking the last few days (I had thought about initially about a Thinkpad T61p, then a Macbook Pro and then a Dell Vostro 1700, but I found the Sager gave me much better bang for the buck).
I'll maybe post pictures and a review once I get it.
I bought it on xoticpc.com. I'm excited!
The only thing I was deciding between was between getting a 8700GT and a 7950GTX. I decided on the former mostly because it runs cooler (even when overclocked). I don't really care about the DX10 compatability.

Nice configuration. As the owner of a very hot-running notebook, I can certainly appreciate saving a few bucks and getting a cooler-running GPU

no worrys i didnt know that it was a differant 8700 in the 5791
c these forums are good u learn something new everyday -
whats different about them then justin? it's still a mobile version right?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Yes they are both mobile versions.
Physically the card has a different form factor and the mounting hardware (brackets, etc.) is also different. -
hmm that could suck when the 8800's are out. i wonder if we will ever see one for the 5791...i def do hope so
-
On my 5791 it's the hard drive on the right front palm wrist that generates the most heat (200gb 7200rpm). The 7950gtx seems to stay pretty cool but the fan does run quite often especially when gaming. Wonder if the 8700gt would get the fans running less. The gpu is kinda loud. Also wonder if a 5400prm drive would get that right palm less hot.
-
no i have the wd 5400 scorpio and the palmrest gets pretty warm. my fans run a lot also with the 8700
Just ordered: NP5791/M570RU
