I would run 2x 8GB Ram Sticks not 4x4GB sticks... that will give you the option to add more ram to the other 2 slots. the first two slots will be hard to get to iirc///

The PCIe drives we have seen so far have been extremely fast. I would get one of those instead of the SSD, then get a HDD for more storage space (if needed).

It easier to upgrade RAM since there will be two open slots. So you dont have to remove 2 to add 2.

i for one would stick to a 2.5" ssd for the monent. its true that the m.2 pcie drives are faster when it comes to sequential performance, but 4k/small file size speeds are actually not faster, and thats the actual indicator for everyday/system performance, so not yet worth the extra money. but im sure faster drives will be available sometime soon that not only max out the pcie 4x interface at 1.8 gb/s but also provide small-filesize performance to match that and to mop the floor with any available 2.5" drives ;)

aside from that ur config looks good to go! not much longer to wait and well finally have our new babies, yehaw! :D

naturally i was assuming that one would go with a higher tier drive such as the 850 pro / sandisk extreme series and similar :)

Normal workloads are a mix of both small and large, the PCI-E drives pull ahead due to much faster large file speeds.

You do realise that's the thicker and heavier Clevo P150SM-A not P650SG right?

Ouch, hopefully if he ordered already he wasn't looking for that slim and cool factor the P650SE has with it. But ya the 150SM-A is still a very good machine, was going to be my pick before he P650SE came out, though the 150SM-A does have advantages over the P650SE.

Yes neither system makes the other pointless. The p150sm is still pretty portable however compared even to other 15 inch power houses.

Questions! Some might be n00bizh lel.

    A) Is there anyway to switch graphics between graphics, or they are both always on?
    B) Is there anyway to disable integrated graphics, and run gtx980m full time (just curious)?
    B) To overclock GPU, is it better to use MSI, or do it all through the "advanced overclocking settings at your own risk" in the bios?
    C) To overclock CPU, you just turn the "BOOST" on in Bios?

    A) graphics switching happens automatically, the dGPU is either on or off depending on your usage while the iGPU is always on, since all display signals are routed through there, which brings us to

    B) the iGPU cannot be switched off, because then you would lose any display output

    C) i can recommend nvidia inspector for nvidia gpu overclocking :)

    D) try intel xtu for cpu overclocking, make sure that turbo boost is enabled in the bios

as a general rule id always recommend overclocking through software in windows rather than the bios, the former are more easily resettable if u go too high and the system gets unstable. of course u can always reset the bios as well, but that involves taking out the cmos battery, so a bit more of a hassle ;)

Hey guys! Just purchased this same model used, but haven't received the battery yet. I installed a new CPU and can't get the laptop to turn on for the first time while just plugged into the AC adapter. The light turns on that shows its plugged in then blinks green twice but nothing happens. Think i Just need the battery installed? :hi2:

The screen is pretty similar to the GS70 if you go for the standard one on the sager.
